For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1978 Chevrolet Malibu. This beautiful Malibu has an original 51,254 miles on it and still has the original and untouched drivetrain. The engine is a 305 small block and is mated to a reliable TH-350 automatic transmission and back to a 3.73 Posi-Traction rear-end. Most of the car is original except for a beautiful bright red paint job and some very nice aluminum Center Line wheels. Equipment includes Air Conditioning that was converted to R134A, Power steering, Power front disc and rear drums, AM radio, tan vinyl bench seats, seat belts, radial tires and aluminum wheels. The rear drums are now aluminum which help with keeping up with appearances. The old steel drums are hard to keep looking good with problems of constant corrosion. That problem is long gone with these rare aluminum drums. The staggered Center Line wheels and 2 inch dropped front spindles give the car a true muscle car appearance. The beautiful red paint is base coat/clear coat, was just applied 2 years ago and still looks amazing. The 305 wasn't known for being power house but is a very reliable and fuel friendly engine. This car can easily be enjoyed as is or be considered a blank canvas and take it to the next level with a big block or an LS engine.
