Chevrolet Nova SS 1970

General description : The featured car is something a little different, believed to be the only 1970 Nova factory equipped with the ultra rare L89 aluminium head engine. The 1970 396 was actually a 402. The optional L78 was factory rated at 375hp@5,600rmp and 415tq@3,600rpm. The L89 option added the aluminium heads and was described by one automotive journalist as "the ultimate in sheer neck-snapping overkill."
This beautiful tuxedo black car is believed to be the only one ever produced. Five years ago the owner of this car was looking through a five month old local special interest publication, when he found the advertisement for what was to become his pride and joy, a "one of one" Nova.
After viewing the car and the documentation he began compiling a mountain of research. He discovered the rarity of the car and purchased it. The owner knew he had a very special and extremely rare muscle car on his hands. He set out to find a restoration facility that could provide the Nova with the workmanship it truly deserved. In December of 2005 the car was sent to the restoration house of choice, Legendary Motorcar Company; where a complete nut and bolt concours restoration began.
July 27th/28th 2007 the stunning rotisserie restored Nova was debuted at the SYC Supercar Reunion in Collinsville IL. It was in good company with some of the rarest and most collectible Chevys. On hand were ZL1s, Yenko Camaros, Yenko Chevelles, Yenko Novas, COPOs, Motion, Nickey, Berger Supercars to name a few. The owner of the car plans to continue showing his L89 Nova SS at high level events all across North America and it will be featured in multiple episodes of the 2008 Dream Car Garage season.

About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
