Description : Gateway Classic Cars of Louisville is proud to present this 1946 Chevy Pickup! Leading into the 1940's the world was just coming out of the great depression but America was about to wade into WWII. Chevrolet wanted to replace the dated Master design for their pickup and put pen to paper and drafted up a new design. Using the Deluxe "A" platform the AK series was born. The Chevrolet AK Series Pickup would run from 1941-1947. Regretfully they are rare because the U.S. Government shutdown civilian automotive construction in February of 1942 after Pearl Harbor and no American civilian cars were made again until 1946. So the AK series of trucks made for the public were only made for 3 model years. Here we have a '46 model pickup, the first year back from the war, but this truck is far from original. The maroon and black paint is sharp. The black vinyl interior looks comfortable and is in good order and goes well with the exterior. The stance of this truck; she looks so good! The open slate on the side of the hood shows this truck means business. Under the hood is a new GM crate 350ci V8 backed by a New 700R4 overdrive automatic transmission, believed installed around 2 years ago. The truck runs and drives out well and sounds very good! She has an all-steel body, Mustang II Rack-N-Pinion Steering, Ford 9" Rear End, LMC Gas Tank Re-Location Kit, Billet Dash w/Dolphin Gauges, Vintage A/C, Ididt Tilt Wheel, LIKAR Shifter, Painless Wiring, Electric Wipers, Louvered Hood and Rally Wheels. She also has Vinatage Blue Tot Tail Lights, LMC Steel Roll Pan, LMC Stainless Grill, and LMC Stainless Wooden Bed Kit. Additional, new paint, new interior, new trim, new glass, new converter, new brake lines, new exhaust, and more. Some of this work was completed as late as 2021. Odometer shows 863 miles, and that is since rebuild. Current owner has had her for close to 2 years, acquired from a private owner. The title is clean and clear and ready to be transferred into your name now. Don't miss your chance to have one very sharp, well put together truck from an iconic age but brought up to more modern times! This truck is certain to turn heads anywhere you go! Options on this Chevy are:A/C, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Vinyl Interior, Tilt Steering, Seat Belts, Hub Caps, Rally Wheels, and Radial Tires. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
