Chevrolet Sedan 1938

General description : For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1938 Chevrolet Humpback sedan. This street rod stands out thanks to the White Opalescence paint job, allow wheels and a mild chop to finish off that traditional street rod look. Power comes from a 350 LT1 small block Chevy making around 300 horsepower and 300 lbs./ft. of torque. Plenty to get this thing rolling in a hurry. The transmission is a 4L60E 4-speed automatic with overdrive making highway cruising a breeze. Brakes are all drums but are power and have no issues stopping. Steering is manual but not a tough task. The front suspension consists of a 1968 Chevrolet Nova. This offers an independent suspension and includes upper and lower control arms. This single upgrade transforms the ride and steering far above what was original in 1938. The original design was a straight axle with leaf springs. Not terrible, but far from the newer design. Other notable features include Power windows, Electric door poppers, Power brakes, Tilt steering column, Aluminum wheels with radial rubber and seat belts. The restoration is roughly 5 years old and the car has covered a modest 1,794 miles. For more information on this 1938 Chevrolet Humpback Sedan, call 618-271-3000 or stop by our St. Louis showroom. About Chevrolet
Chevrolet aka Chevy, founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant is the best selling and biggest brand by General Motors -mainly due to low pricing.

No wonder Chevy the "working man's car" has become such an iconic part of Americana in films and pop-culture.

When talking about Chevy one must not ignore Chevrolet small-block V8 the world's most produced engine that has been in production since 1955 and still going strong.

Surprisingly, "America's only sports car" Corvette was introduced under Chevrolet brand rather than its own. To us the most memorable Corvette has to be The second generation (C2) Corvette, Sting Ray.

To compete with VW Beatle Chevrolet introduced Corvair a compact automobile built in 1960–1969 It was the only American designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. Corvair handling was deemed notoriously bad mainly due to Ralph Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. Although, any handling issues were soon solved the reputation did stick.

With Pony / Muscle car mania taking over the Americans, following the introduction of Ford Mustang, Chevrolet came up with one of its most famous models Camaro. During the first year alone they managed to sell 220,906 Camaros.
