For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1948 Chevrolet Style Master. This Style Master has received some great improvements during its full frame off restoration. One of the biggest improvements is the use of a Chassis Engineering Mustang II designed front suspension. This consist of upper and lower control arms (uppers are tubular) and power rack and pinion steering; truly a transformation. There is also a Chassis Engineering rear suspension utilizing parallel leaf springs. Power front disc and rear drums make slowing this beautiful street rod a piece of cake. Power comes from a Fuel Injected LT1 engine that makes an easy 300 horsepower and 300 lbs./ft. of torque. The transmission is a 4L60E 4-speed automatic with overdrive. The rear end is a 10 bolt and has 3.40 gears. The overdrive transmission and the 3.40 rear gears allow for easy highway cruising while still be able scare a few folks at stop lights. Inside you'll find plush leather seats that were sourced from a low mileage 1996 Chevrolet extended cab and feature a power driver's seat. Other equipment inside include cruise control, power windows, tilt wheel, A/C controls, AM/FM radio with cassette and seat belts. The key fob has four buttons; one for each door popper and one for each front window to roll down. Another important thought was the addition of a fail-safe for the electronic door poppers. There is a hidden cable to manually open one of the doors. The beautiful body and paint work include shaved door handles, trunk trim removed, modified front fenders, filled hood, butted windshield and a rear roll pan for a clean appearance. All of this is riding on a set of polished aluminum wheels shod with high performance radial rubber.
