For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1948 Chevrolet 3100 Suburban. This one is heavily upgraded and is ready for the open road. Powering this custom Suburban is a 350 Chevy V8 sporting Speedway Ceramic coated Rams horn exhaust manifolds and an Edelbrock carburetor. The transmission is a GM Turbo 400 automatic and a Chevy 10 bolt rear end with 3.40 rear gears. The suspension consist of a Mustang II front suspension with upper and lower control arms and rack and pinion steering, a Chassis Engineering rear suspension with a sway bar and Air assist with the controls in the cab for easy use. Power steering and power front disc brakes certainly make for an easier drive. The rest of the equipment includes A/C, AM/FM radio, cruise control, tilt steering column, power seats from a '96 extended cab pickup, power windows, seat belts and radial tires wrapped around some classic GM powder coated rally wheels. The appearance of this Suburban will stop you in your tracks. The lowered ride height, powder coated wheels and two tone paint. It still uses the barn door style rear doors.
