Chrysler 75 Roadster Le Mans 1928

General description : Vintage and Prestige are proud to offer this 1928 Chrysler 75 Roadster Le Mans For Sale The Chrysler 75 with it's hydraulic brakes was ahead of it’s time and was a first in history. This advancement in brake technology allowed the company to participate in the Mille Miglia and Le Mans with good results. 75 HP, 4 litre engine, L-head inline, six cylinder engine, solid front and live axles with semi-elliptical spring suspension, Lockheed four wheel hydraulic drum brakes, it felt like a much more expensive European car. Chrysler Automobiles of the late 1920 were innovative and fast. Between 1925 and 1931 Chrysler competed internationally at such events as the Mille Miglia and the 24 hours races at Le Mans and Spa. Running against the best and most expensive Automobiles that Europe had to offer. In fact, at the 1929 24 hours of Le Mans, a series 75 Roadster finished 6th overall and third in the index of performance. And at that year‘s Mille Miglia a similar car won the 5-litre class. The current Swiss owner bought the car from an American Pilot, who had the Chrysler in his living room for over 25 years. Since he was only the second owner the car it is still in remarkable almost untouched condition. Everything appears like on a car only a couple of years old. It drives, feels and brakes like new. We have driven it and came back amazed about the quality of the car. High praise indeed.

This immaculate piece of motoring history is Mille Miglia and Le Mans eligible.

Viewings maybe arranged by prior appointment only in Switzerland.

About Chrysler
The Chrysler Corporation, one of the "big three" was founded by Walter Chrysler in 1925

Apart from artdeco(isque), airflow and airstream models, Chrysler's early years may lack lustre in design terms but not in technical. Their list of early automotive "firsts" includes Floating Power i.e. Rubber engine mounts, replaceable oil filters, downdraft carburetor, and four-wheel hydraulic brakes.

Things were to change after the war, Exner revived Chrysler production car design with the sleek, sculptured Forward Look designs of 1955 that transformed the product line overnight. The flagship in 1955, Chrysler 300, came with HEMI power. The 300, arguably the first muscle car, became a legend on and off the race track and set records throughout the 1950s, The Legend of Hemi was born.
