Dodge D-series 440 CID V8 1977

General description : Now for sale in our Houston showroom is a completely restored Dodge Warlock 440 4WD. Originally a concept vehicle, the Dodge Warlock entered production in late 1976, reappearing in limited numbers in 1977 through 1979. One of only 500 Warlocks built in 1977, Its owner states that it is an original 1977 Dodge 440 Warlock, having been verified prior to the start of the restoration process by Skipp Gibbs, who “wrote the book about Warlocks”. Not only is it 1 of 500, it is likely rarer than that. This Warlock is also one of the (rumored to be) only 74 units of 440 Warlocks that were built; and it’s probably 1 of an even smaller number, since it is also an original 4WD Warlock (which were a minority of the 440 Warlocks built). Originally, the 4WD Warlocks used a fulltime-only setup; but the transfer case in this one was converted to allow the use of 2WD, and now has new Warn manual locking hubs up front. During the restoration, it was completely disassembled, each body panel was media blasted, epoxy primed, painted, color sanded and buffed. All the metal in the truck is in excellent shape, with body and frame completely intact, and no fillers anywhere. Its oak bed and siderails are new and pristine. The interior was completely redone to its factory-original condition, and a new interior and exterior stripe package from Phoenix Graphics was installed to complete the look. There is also an AM/FM/CD player in the glovebox to provide an enhanced music experience. The front and rear glass were also replaced. The original 1977 440 block was replaced with a high performance 1975 440 block, which now has a bigger cam (for a nice lopey idle and extra low-end torque), a Holley 4bbl carb, MSD 6AL, Accel SuperCoil, and Hooker headers round out the engine’s performance upgrades. The addition of black crinkle-finish Mopar Performance finned aluminum valve covers and air cleaner housing round out the allure of the engine bay. A new 2 1/2" aluminized dual exhaust setup, with Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers provides a nice bass rumble out back. Behind the big 440, there is a beefy A727 TorqueFlite auto, which sends the twist to all 4 corners when the transfer case is 4WD mode. New 33x12.50x15 BF Goodrich All Terrain K02's were installed on new 8-spoke wheels, which have been powder coated to match its factory gold stripes. In addition, this Warlock is sporting all new brakes, new TerraFlex 9550 shocks, and a 3” suspension lift, to further enhance its off-road capability. Additional options on this 1977 Dodge Warlock for sale include AM/FM/CD Radio, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Radial Tires, Seat Belts, and Synthetic Leather seating. About Dodge
Dodge Brothers Company, founded by Horace and John Dodge in 1900, initially produced components for car manufacturers. In 1914 they stepped into car manufacturing when introducing four-cylinder Dodge Model 30 with all-steel body and 12v electric system.

By 1920 Dodge had become the second biggest car manufacturer in the USA, unfortunately the same year both of the brothers died, the company in turn to was sold to Chrysler Corporation in 1928. Dodge found a niche Chrysler Corporation lineup above low-priced Plymouth and medium-priced DeSoto, but somewhat below the top-of-the-line Chrysler
