Description : Gateway Classic Cars of Chicago is proud to present this one of five-hundred 1986 Dodge Omni GLH-S. though many know Carroll Shelby worked much of his career with Ford, there was a time in the 80's that he was heavily improving the performance of the Dodge stable. The Omni was an economy-minded car designed to help get from point A to point B as efficient as possible. A special trim GLH (for "goes Like Hell") was introduced in 1984 with help from Mr. Shelby. The trim level added turbo, making for a hot hatch that spit out a respectable 146 horsepower, up from the standard 94 of the lesser models. the GLH-S, as shown here, was a Swan Song of the high-performance trims for the Omni, and saw more boost, and therefore a higher power output of 175 horsepower. With the Omni only weighing about 2,200 lbs, this Dodge can move!
The 2.2l 4-cylinder turbocharged engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. This example saw a semi-documented restoration circa 2002-2003, and is numbered #053/500. The boost pressure was upped again to 16-17psi, and the 5-speed was upgraded with a stronger unit, as well as a limited slip differential, making sure traction can always be found. Koni shocks sit on all 4 corners and gives a very pleasant ride, while still making sure this Omni really hugs the road. This rare vehicle is sure to keep you smiling for years to come!

About Dodge
Dodge Brothers Company, founded by Horace and John Dodge in 1900, initially produced components for car manufacturers. In 1914 they stepped into car manufacturing when introducing four-cylinder Dodge Model 30 with all-steel body and 12v electric system.

By 1920 Dodge had become the second biggest car manufacturer in the USA, unfortunately the same year both of the brothers died, the company in turn to was sold to Chrysler Corporation in 1928. Dodge found a niche Chrysler Corporation lineup above low-priced Plymouth and medium-priced DeSoto, but somewhat below the top-of-the-line Chrysler
