This 1948 Dodge B-1 Pickup has been in the same family since new. If that wasn't enticing enough, the ultra-low odometer is believed to reflect the truck's actual mileage. They even gave the pickup a major refresh only about a dozen years ago. So if you're looking for a true classic that has been treated like a heirloom, this is an exceptionally rare opportunity.
These trucks were known as Pilot House cabs because of how the tall five-window setup gave you a commanding view all around the truck. And what made them great for work back in the 1940s adds plenty of distinction today. We can tell the one family cherished this pickup, and there was even a nice investment in 2007 to refresh some of the pieces. The result is a truck that looks good but is not overdone to erase its history. The glossy blue of the cab is intertwined with the black as it starts on the bumper, flows along the side rails, and consumes the bed. And as you look over the whole package you'll see all the right pieces of vintage charm, like the glossy lumber in the bed and the bold red wheels with whitewalls (including a side-mounted spare.) And this even has the correct ram hood ornament boldly leading the way.
The blue on the outside of the cab also continues inside. Everything from the texture of the bench seat to the rubber floor mat has a terrific vintage feel. So from the moment you grab the large three-spoke steering wheel and look over the metal dash, this feels like true old-school motoring. The AM radio was a rare feature from the time, so it's great to still have it as a display piece. And the heater was one of those welcomed options that warmed you up on the way home from working in the fields...and you'll get that kind of nostalgia every time you turn it on.
With a single-family owned truck, it's easy to understand how they know this retains its original engine. So you'll love lifting the cool butterfly hood to showcase the 218 cubic-inch inline-six. And this really is ready to show off with such a fresh presentation, right down to bright block and single carb.
