General description :
The Fiat 500 is one of the most iconic cars ever produced; the original 'city-car.' It was the logical descendant of the Topolino (Little Mouse) but was in fact even smaller with only a 72" wheelbase. The pre-war Topolino had a front mounted,four-cylinder engine of 570cc and it was water-cooled, while the new 500 boasted a rear-mounted, vertical two-cylinder, air-cooled engine.
Production spanned from 1957 to 1975, with many different variants being made in this period, from the original 'nuova' to the Rinnovata.
The vehicle that we have here is a beautiful L series finished in White with Tricolore Stripe over a Black interior. The car has benefited from a recent restoration and shows 33,013 KMs since work was completed. The car sits in naturally perfect condition and comes with its original Italian log book.
These cars will always be iconic, incredibly fun and simple to drive. Not only a fantastic city run-around, but also a real investment opportunity.
Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino (FIAT to you and I) was founded by Giovanni Agnelli in 1899. Their first car 3 ½ CV had a strong resembledence to contemporary Benz, only 25 examples were built. By 1910 Fiat had established itself as Italia's biggest car manufacturer and expanded to the US, where a new plant was built in Poughkeepsie, NY.
At that time Fiat cars were big and luxurious barges for the wealthy or barking mad racing cars like S76 , The beast of Turin, with its 290HP 28.5-liter, four-cylinder engine.
However, today Fiat is better reknown for its small symphatic peoples carriers, Topolino, 500 "Cinquecento" and 600.
What ever your favorite Fiat is, you'll find it for sale here at www.classicdigest.com
