Ford F-100 302 V8 1955

General description : SHARP F100! SMOOTH 302 V8, 4 SPEED MANUAL, OLDER RESTO BUT STILL GREAT DRIVER!

Debuting to take the place of their capable but smaller F1 predecessor, stouter, sturdier trucks like this 1955 Ford F-100 emerged to capably get America back to work in the aftermath of two separate disrupting global conflicts. Looking straight and running strong, this venerable workhorse offers a pair of opportunities for its next owner - it cuts an impressive presence and is very much up to the task of performing as an attention-getting frequent driver in its current state, or it could also be taken to a whole new level with some well-placed customization.
Ford recognized that many Americans were relying ever more heavily on their pickups to toil dependably at work sites while also performing regular transportation duties, so they bridged the gap between personal trucks and larger, more industrially-focused versions as their F1 line gave way to the F-100 just a couple of years before this 1955 first saw the light of day, arming them with a wider track and broader front ends to more easily accommodate a sizable engine, and to provide more comfort for a driver and passenger sitting side by side. Clad in a nice, solid gray paint job, this is a very capable looking vintage ride, with its beefy front fenders, stout running boards and sturdy looking rear end. When viewed from the front, the thick grille bars sitting below a star shaped emblem give it an almost art-deco look. More than 60 years of loyal service haven't taken their toll on its alignment - its body panels still fit well and nice, even gaps surround the hood and doors.
The gray interior has been refurbished in a suitably vintage look, with a modern-looking shifter just in front of the leather bench seat and an assortment of aftermarket gauges residing under the dash as the only modern components in sight - even the original, coil patterned pedals still sit in place below. If you look through the factory steering wheel, you'll see a seriously stylish dash area, with a two-tone instrument cluster sitting behind clear glass. The speedometer and factory gauges inside will need some attention to get them back online, but their aftermarket counterparts are functioning just as intended. The bed area in back shows a few badges of honor gained from actual use, but its walls are very sound and the planks lining the floor sit level between steel reinforcements that are all in place, though some refinishing of the wood would spruce things up a bit.
Owing to its generously proportioned engine compartment, the 302 cubic inch V8 sitting inside is surrounded by quite a bit of working room. An Edelbrock 4-barrel carb that sits under a chrome air cleaner combines with an Edelbrock intake manifold to add some extra power, while an electronic ignition provides a far more dependable spark than what this classic truck started out with. The engine pairs with a 4-speed manual transmission that's shifting very securely to offer a very nice driving experience. There is a long list of components that were fairly recently installed to up the dependability factor, including the clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, master cylinder, fuel tank and sending unit, fuel pump and starter, while new front end bushings and tie rod ends make for a quieter ride and secure steering. This solid running, nostalgia-inducing classic rides on a set of original 15" Ford wheels that feature great looking branded hubcaps and are wrapped with Mastercraft tires.
Offering plenty of vintage road readiness in the present and the opportunity for customization in the future, this 1955 Ford F-100 would be a great score for any classic truck enthusiast. Call today!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
