Ford F-100 351 W CID V8 1956

General description : Gateway Classic Cars Dallas is proud to present a stunning 1956 Ford F-100. In the 1950s, the Ford F-100 was simply a rugged pickup truck designed to put in a full days work without complaint. Today, they are highly-sought collectables that make fantastic rods, especially when they are as trick as this black-on-black 56. Built over the past two years ago, this black stunner captures everything that is great about the Ford design. Creating a cab-forward design before there even was such a thing, Ford discovered that they could carry more payload if they shifted the axles around. The result was one of the best-looking pickup trucks ever built. This one has been completely rebuilt from top to bottom, and bathed in inky black paint that is so dark and smooth that other black cars parked next to it look dusty. Fit and finish are exemplary, and not a single Ford curve or corner was modified to get this look. Even the original badges on the sides of the hood remain in place, fully restored and glittering, complementing the dazzling front grille and simple bumpers. Out back, the bed is fully refinished with natural oak boards, a custom amp, speakers and subwoofer enclosure, and a snug-fitting automatic raising tonneau cover that effectively creates the worlds biggest wood-lined trunk. A black leather interior contrasts with the chrome finishes and black center console the way the black paint contrasts with the pickup bed, and continues the theme quite nicely. Power buckets are both supportive and stylish, flanking the center seat, the controls for the AM/FM/CD stereo system, and A/C controls. The original dash is still there, but the instruments are slick black-faced Auto Meter units in a black anodized panel that looks incredibly slick. A tilt column makes it easy to get comfortable behind that leather-wrapped steering wheel and all the power amenities are included. It's always nice to see a Ford engine in a Ford vehicle, and the built 351 cubic inch V8 under the hood of this one provides a lot of performance and a great muscle car soundtrack to go with it. This truck was obviously built to cruise, so reliability and service access were paramount during the build, but it also looks pretty darned good. Ford Racing valve covers look amazing, and you can't go wrong by adding Edelbrock gear to any American V8, using aluminum heads, intake, carb. The A/C system uses R134a refrigerant, so its readily available and affordable for future servicing, and the cooling system is oversized to help control temperatures in extreme situations. Shorty headers feed a dual exhaust system custom fabricated just for this truck and featuring Flowmaster mufflers. While you're looking around under there, also note the C4 3-speed automatic and 9-inch rear, Classic chrome 20 inch 5-spoke wheels wear 275mm wide Toyo Proxis rubber! Tubular Mustang 2 front end with Rack and Pinion steering and Wilwood brakes makes this truck handle! This truck has been fully equipped with a modern Air Ride system that raises each corner of the truck to any desired height, if you want to lay on the ground or get over any street obstacle, his truck can do it. A beautifully built, fully-sorted pickup with details that will make everyone stop and admire it. What could be better? About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
