Ford F-100 Ranger Explorer 351 V8 1978

General description : Description
With a ton of originality, this 1978 Ford F-150 Ranger Explorer is a truly unique survivor with a retro-cool look and proper V8 power under the hood.
When you have a survivor from the 1970s, you want it to look like this. The correct dark brown metallic is the kind of color you think about when you picture this era, and because this is the original factory application, it evokes the kind of nostalgia where people will instantly tell you what they were doing in 1978. After all, the stripe package on this premium Ranger Explorer trim really makes this look like it stepped off the set of Charlie's Angels. More than just true vintage appeal, those full-length streaks also highlight the quality of the sheetmetal and overall care this truck has received for nearly 45 years. The odometer is believed to reflect actual mileage (averaging under 1,400 miles annually), and the truck's long bed even looks seldom used. You'll even love the details, like the factory wheel covers, Explorer hood ornament, and the unique square headlight face that Ford offered to the premium pickups in 1978.
The superb survivor style package continues inside. The Chamois tan interior harmonizes with the exterior brown's earth tone nature. The vintage premium details are on full display again with a comfort weave insert in the bench seat, wood-like trim on the dash, and full plush carpeting. The classic thin/grippy steering wheel looks good, and the gauges are clean and clear. Even the factory radio is still cranking out the tunes.
Under the hood is the correct displacement H-code 351 cubic-inch V8. It has a stock style right down to the decals, and so it's believed to be the original motor in this survivor pickup. It looks quite honest with its big blue block and matching blue valve covers. The whole engine bay has a correct look, right down to the jack still mounted to the inner fender. But originality doesn't mean missing out on care, and the way this V8 fires up and runs reaffirms a well-respected life thus far. And with a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes w/front discs, this is a fine cruising classic.
The sale comes complete with the original warranty card and owner's manual. It's going to be a while before you find such an interesting survivor like this again. And by then, you'll likely pay at least twice as much. So don't miss your opportunity. Call now!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
