Ford F-150 406 V8 1982

General description : LIFELONG GA TRUCK, AL MOODY BUILT 406 V8, AOD TRANS, A/C, PS/PB, SWB, CAMPER!!

Growing up in the '80s, trucks this this 1982 Ford F150 extended cab were common, but not many folks took care of them. Today, finding a nice one is a pleasant surprise, particularly with a pro-built 406 inch stroker motor under the hood, which makes this pickup feel more like a Mustang with a big trunk than an industrial-strength hauler.
If you had serious work to do, you bought a long bed and maybe a bigger truck, meaning that this F150 has led a nice life as a daily driver and hobby vehicle. As a result, it's in above-average condition for its age and still offers a lot of virtues for not a lot of cash. The 25-year-old repaint still shines up nicely and as a regular cab/long bed model, it has pleasing proportions that give it a can-do attitude. It doesn't appear to have lived anyplace where snow and salt are common, so the finish is pretty close to how it must have looked when it was new and the color-coordinated cap gives it a finished look. The bed is protected by a drop-in bed liner so you can still take it to Home Depot on weekends and bring home the big stuff. The front end is as familiar as your own mother's face given the longevity of these trucks, and the chrome on the grille and front bumper is in excellent shape. Out back, there's a heavy-duty step bumper and an industrial-strength hitch, so you can still put it to work.
There's more evidence of this truck's easy life inside, where you'll find a comfortable tan vinyl interior that's more luxury than working class. The upholstery was replaced not too long ago and is in very good condition, typical of the era's durable materials and it isn't as dated as you'd think for the mid-80s. The gauges are legible and clear, the door panels are in nice shape with only a light depression where the driver's elbow might have rested, and factory A/C is a welcome addition. Underneath those heavy-duty mats, the factory rubber floor covering is holding up well and the rear bench, which is probably original, is big enough for three in a pinch. Auxiliary gauges under the dash keep an eye on the upgraded engine and the factory AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit still sounds decent.
Best of all, there's a big horsepower upgrade under the hood. With ties to the original 351, it's a 406 cubic inch stroker built by Al Moody Racing, ideal for pulling trailers and generally having a good time. Honestly, everything that was great about the engine survives in this pickup 100% intact, only at a much higher level. It's torquey, smooth, and makes great V8 sounds from the twin tailpipes that follow the original path. It's also bulletproof reliable, thanks to an Eagle stroker kit that includes billet H-beam rods and forged pistons, as well as a Comp Cams camshaft and Crane roller rockers. Up top there's a big Holley carb and aluminum intake, all lit up by an MSD ignition system. Backed by an AOD 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission, it's punchy around town and just loafs along at highway speeds. The engine bay is orderly with signs of regular care, while the chassis is quite original and has nothing to hide, although it isn't shiny perfect anymore. And despite being a pickup, the ride is remarkably comfortable. Sporty factory steel wheels with trim rings add some flash and wear fat 255/70/15 Goodyear radials at all four corners.
With handsome good looks, plenty of practicality, and a big V8 that's more than capable, this F150 offers a very inexpensive opportunity for lots of fun. Call today!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
