Ford Galaxie 390 CID V8 1963

General description : Gateway Classic Cars Houston showroom is proud to offer this gorgeous metallic ruby 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 for sale. Bathed in a lustrous, glowing House of Kolors red that seems to change colors from every angle, it literally looks like a metallic ruby when viewed in the sunlight. The exterior chrome trim around the windows is in excellent shape, and the rest of the chrome trim looks good, too. Open the hood, and you'll note that the engine bay is finished in the same red and is loaded with chrome. From the hood hinges, to the radiator reservoir, alternator, power brake booster and master cylinder, valve covers and air cleaner, this baby sparkles. The big 390 CID V8 lurks menacingly in its lair - fitted with coated Hedman headers and topped with an aluminum Edelbrock manifold and Edelbrock 4BBL carb, you know this is no mild grocery getter's mill. With only about 2000 miles on the engine since it was rebuilt, it's barely broken in. Backed by a Ford 3-speed automatic that sends the power to the 3.05:1 gearset in the Ford 9-inch rear, this is one sturdy and potent drivetrain. A massive aluminum radiator with twin electric pusher fans (aided by the factory fan) helps keep the big block cool while you're motoring around town. Moving to the inside, you'll notice the Vintage Ford-logoed AC, and some cool custom touches, like custom Mother of Pearl steering wheel and the Oyster shell-topped switchgear on the dash and radio's control knobs. A Sunpro gauge pack helps the driver monitor the powertrain's vitals, with the rest of the factory gauges intact, as well. The sweet champagne beige and oyster-colored synthetic leather seating is in great shape, and the carpet looks brand new. Settle into the driver's seat, fire it up, and listen to the baritone burble of the big 390 as it settles into a lopey idle, sending its exhaust out the big dual exhaust, its DynoMax mufflers both quieting and enhancing the muscle car sound. Pull the gear lever into drive and rumble off to your next horizon. If, during your motoring escapade you should choose to see what this baby will do, the power brakes have the added benefit of discs up front, complete with drilled rotors; so stopping happens much more quickly than it ever could've with the original brake setup. The aluminum American Racing 5-spoke wheels provide additional good looks, and better airflow to the brakes, too. Additional options on this 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 for sale include Air Conditioning, Aluminum Alloy wheels, AM Radio, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Radial Tires, Seat Belts, and Synthetic Leather seating. About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
