Ford Galaxie 1970

General description : FUN DROP TOP CRUISER! 351 V8, AUTO, GREAT COLORS, NICE INTERIOR

It's an awesome display of vintage style that will have you yearning to hit the highway for some open air driving pleasure. This 1970 Ford Galaxie XL is an endlessly appealing cruiser that wears its original colors both inside and out and features a healthy-sounding powerplant under its hood. Attainable at a nice price, it also offers you the seldom-seen opportunity to get out on the open road and have fun while making some upgrades at your convenience.
This Galaxie harkens back to a time when there was no talk of fuel shortages, and carrying the classification of a full-sized car was still considered a badge of honor. You don't see all that many drop tops with its generous proportions - even among classics - yet its overall symmetry gives it an agile, sporty look. It's clad in the same shade of yellow it rolled off the assembly line with and the paint makes a nice showing, offering a pleasing shine. Same can be said of the bumpers and chrome brightwork as well. Should you find yourself out on the road when skies darken, there's a power white convertible top ready to springs into action that seals well and features a nice, clear plastic window in back.
Climb inside and you'll be surrounded by a ginger-colored interior that remains in its original configuration and offers lots of comfort - the appeal of this vintage driving environment jumps out at you right away. The bench seats in both front and back don't show any pronounced wear marks or cracks on their covers and the carpeting lining the floor is in strong condition, as well. Owing to this Galaxie's generous proportions, there's an abundance of room on hand, with shoulder width aplenty and rear seat legroom that will have your backseat passengers smiling as they join you on your motoring adventures. The unique dash is original and does show a little wear from the years in service, but still remains very attractive. Pop the deck lid and you'll see another benefit of the 500's size - there's plenty of luggage space in back, even with a full size spare on hand.
Under the hood is a 351 cubic inch V8 sporting its proper Ford blue block, valve covers and air cleaner. The smooth running powerplant sits adjacent to fresh hoses and a master cylinder, power brake booster and alternator that all appear to have been recently added. Turn the key and this classic Ford's road-ready condition will be evident right off the bat - the engine sounds strong and teams with a 3-speed automatic transmission that provides secure shifts. Power steering makes navigation a low-effort endeavor, while power brakes that feature discs up front bring this Galaxie's set of 17" Torq Thrust II wheels wrapped with Hankook Ventus tires to dependable, fade resistant stops. The undercarriage shows the patina you'd expect from a car of this era, but looks solid and sturdy.
With its driver and passenger space in abundance and open-air driving exhilaration just a flick of a switch away, this Ford Galaxie 500XL is one fine ride. Call today!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
