Ford Maverick 351 CID V8 1970

General description : Now for sale in our Houston showroom is this purpose-built 1970 Ford Maverick. This is one of those cars that really does look as good in person as it does in the pictures. With all of its lines as crisp and clean as they were when it rolled off the assembly lines, straight body panels and well-aligned fitment gaps, this Ford Race Red Maverick could pass for new...except for the fact that it's sporting Weld Racing aluminum wheels wrapped in skinnies up front, and meaty Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag Radials out back...and, oh, that custom full roll cage inside is a little hard to miss, along with the massive hood scoop. Those things should give you visual clues that this car is built for the strip, but if that's not enough, just open the hood. The engine is a Duras Racing-built 410 stroker, complete with an electric water pump, forged 14:1 pistons, Eagle Rods, ported and polished Canfield aluminum heads with hardened valves, roller cam and lifters, and topped with a Woodruff Carbs-built Holley 4BBL sitting atop the Edelbrock Victor Jr high-rise intake manifold. Altogether, this mill is pushing over 600 horsepower to the B&M-shifted Performance Auto C4 transmission, which has a 4500RPM Stall Converter and a trans brake. Out back, the Moser-enhanced Ford 9 inch rear end houses a set of 31 spline Moser axles, a limited slip differential, and a 4.11:1 gear set. Up front underneath, you'll find a Mustang II rack and pinion steering system, and upper and lower tubular control arms. The unibody sports full welded-in subframe connectors, along with Heim-jointed tubular lower rear control arms, Panhard bar, torque arm, and fully adjustable coilovers out back all combine to keep the body straight and true and pointed down the track for all of those hard launches that you'll want to throw at it. Additionally, you may want to bolt on the (included) Wheelie bars for when you slap on some wrinkle walls. You'll need them. When you get to the end of the 1320, the vented front disc brakes will get you stopped long before you get to the sand. Furthering the race car motif, it has a full fuel cell and safety-enclosed battery in the trunk. No need for luggage a quarter mile at a time. However, if you DID want to go somewhere requiring luggage, just toss your bags in the back seat of this Maverick's original interior. Once you've decided if you're heading out to visit friends, or just off to trip the trap, settle into the driver's seat and crank the mill over. Firing to life with the raucousness that a race-prepped mill should, this 351W-stroked-to-410 CID V8 will bring a smile to your face. While it's warming up, glance over the AutoMeter gauges while you listen to that rumble, as the combusted fossils spew through the ceramic coated long tube headers and into that custom mandrel-bent exhaust with its Flowmaster mufflers. It's hard not to envision strapping yourself in and mashing the loud pedal, so don't wait until it's gone! About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
