Ford Model A 200 ci 4 cylinder 1929

General description : AUTHENTIC & FULLY RESTORED US POSTAL TRUCK! AWARD WINNER! AWESOME RARE FIND!

You don't see many opportunities like the one this 1929 Model A presents. Back in the day, it was entrusted with keeping America in touch, doing the heavy lifting for the Unites States Post Office as it hauled incoming mail from trainyard to local post offices. Meticulously restored over the course of 10 years while retaining its original configuration, this venerable vehicle has received numerous accolades, which include no fewer than 5 Best of Show trophies at the Texas Model A Ford State Tour, and an extended writeup in Vintage Truck magazine, that serve as a testament to the outstanding quality of work that was performed in bringing this one of a kind vehicle to its current impressive state.
A lot of emphasis during its restoration went toward making sure those details reinforcing this truck's authenticity were looked after, so nearly 90 years after it first began its service, it remains remarkably close to its original form. It still carries a wooden body that sits on top of a steel undercarriage and side rails, and this olive colored cabin - custom built for its specific purpose - has an impressive shine. Both the driver and passenger side doors slide open to afford access inside, and if you swing around to the back, you'll see that the ambulance-style doors do, as well. This is such a capable looking truck that despite its age, you can still easily picture it dutifully arriving at the train station to pick up its load. Its front windshield still folds out without incident, and a pair of era-appropriate ad posters decorate its rear flanks, just as they did when it was performing its duties.
You'll find that the interior has also been brought back to life with a strong focus on maintaining originality. Spartan, yet authentic down to the actual horsehair its cushions are stuffed with, a single driver-side bench seat sits in the wooden cabin, with a stock steering wheel within reach. Just beyond it, the original instrument cluster has been refurbished, harboring one of the few nods to modernization that was made for practicality - an aftermarket temperature gauge to make sure things don't get too heated inside the vented hood, to go along with turn indicators to avoid any surprises when changing lanes. Even the floor shifter has an authentic, era-appropriate look as it extends upward from the wooden floor.
Raise the hood and you'll find a 201-cubic inch 4 cylinder inside that's mated with a 3 speed manual transmission, just as was the case so many years ago when this Ford was new. One of the very marked advantages Model As have over their predecessor, the Model T, is in performance, and this specimen is proof, as it's capable of maintaining a speed of 50MPH, in excess of the Model T's maximum. A couple of hidden modifications have been made to the mechanical configuration to make for a more practical, yet still properly antique-looking vehicle, including the addition of an inverter to bring its native 6 volt electrical output to a modern 12 volts, as well as a larger core that's been added to the original radiator to cool the engine more efficiently. This rolling homage to both American commerce and the automotive industry sits on a set of era-appropriate, stock spoked wheels, outfitted with Firestone blackwall tires.
If you're looking for a truly one of a kind antique vehicle that carries an unparalleled amount of nostalgic value into the present day, this 1929 Model A represents an unusually rare find. Call today!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
