Ford Mustang 289 V8 1966

General description : QUALITY CLASSIC DROP TOP, 289 V8, PS, P TOP, FACT. COLORS, BEAUTIFUL PAINT & INT

You have a three-step fantasy: first, leave the house with your bags already packed. Next, walk into our showroom and point out an iconic car. Then, drive away and never look back. This 1966 Ford Mustang convertible is that kind of solid classic that can bring you the open road that quickly.
This is one of the best icons going – a red first-generation Mustang. And while this will always be an in-demand car, there's also extra pride in owing one that was born this way. The Candy Apple Red looks particularly nice because someone made a strong investment of updating the color. The result is a strong luster every time the daylight touches the super-straight body – which is exactly what you want on a sunshine-friendly droptop. Plus, all the iconic brightwork elements are in place, such as the correct grille with the running pony emblem, '289' badges on the fenders, three-element taillights, and the mirror-like bumpers. And this one even has a finishing touch of sophistication with the luggage rack and factory wire wheel coves with spinners.
Beneath the white folding roof is crisp black interior. So you get to decide which color you want to complement the exterior red simply by having the roof up or down. We love an all-black interior, because it represents classic cars so nicely. Plus, this one is far from a sea of darkness. You have plenty of bright trim and even some wood accenting to give added character to the atmosphere. It's best seen where the two elements come together on the steering wheel. In fact that wheel is a great reminder that while you know family and friends will want to join you in this icon, this Mustang is really all about the driver. Front bucket seats, a sporty gauge arrangement, and a power top that you don't even have to leave the driver's seat to operate – this classic car is all about you.
Under the hood is the famous 289 cubic-inch motor. It looks great with the bright valve covers and blue block boldly standing out from within the dark engine bay. It has the kind of good power that helped make the Mustang a legend. This one has a nice exhaust that has just the right note to remind you there's a V8 under the hood without waking the neighbors every time you take this out on a warm summer night. And when you look at the undercarriage photos, you see more evidence of a clean and solid car with the right investments in correct components. Plus, the three-speed automatic transmission and power steering further this easy-driving attitude.
This is the turn-key ready classic that can hit the open road right now. But the only way to fulfill that fantasy tomorrow is if you call today!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
