This Rockin Horse pays tribute with muscular look of the 70 Boss 302, but it is a much more driver friendly car. For starters, under the hood the old carbureted engine has moved over for a Ford Racing GT-40 crate engine. The new engine is equipped with Mass Flow Injection, so starts are just a matter of turning the key. The Aluminum heads GT-40 V8 has been dressed out in polished/brushed aluminum or colored matched to gorgeous exterior of Grabber Orange. The suspension has been greatly improved. It now consists of a Ron Morris Performance Street Force tubular coil over front suspension, Flaming River power rack & pinion steering rack, Heavy Duty front/rear sway bars, and KYB Gas-A-Just shock. The unibody has been tied together with subframe connectors and a Total Control Adjustable Aluminum shock tower system has been installed. This Pony is ready for the twisty roads. How bout a trip down the Dragon? Willwood vented disc brakes are on all four corners, this Mustang will stop as well as it handles! The interior of this muscular pony car consists of custom black leather Corbeau Sport Gt Seats with Orange to make the Black pop and to match the Grabber Orange paint. Affectionately called the Rockin Horse by the owner, the logo is embroidered in the head rests and the door panels. To give this Mustang a racier look a JME gauge cluster has been installed and it is filled with Autometer gauges. A Flaming River tilt steering wheel has been added to make it a bit easier to get out of sleek horse. The list for the 1970 convertible Mustang goes on and on. The brand used is BASF Glasurit base with Clearcoat. The hood has been painted in a deep Gloss black which just brings out the Grabber Orange. Custom Air brushed Rockin Graphics just add to the overall look of this beauty. Aluminum Raceline Polished/Painted Custom forged wheels finish out the look of the Grabber Orange. The wheels are wrapped in Nitto NT555 Extreme radial tires. About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.
In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.
In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
