Ford Mustang 351 Windsor V8 1969

General description : HIGH-END RESTO, LOTS OF DOCS, REAL MACH 1, 351W/290HP, R134A AC, PWR DISC/STEER

Prepare to be impressed, because this 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is not only a highly detailed show piece, but it also packs a stout matching-numbers 351 that'll make you forget all about its big block brothers. The unusual color is a big plus, too, so if you're looking to stand out on the street as well as the show field, this Mach 1 is definitely impressive.
Code C5 Black Jade is rather rare compared to many of the other Mustang hues available that year, but it gives this Mach 1 just the right combination of luxury and attitude. Actually, this one is mostly attitude, and with a blacked-out hood and matching scoop, not to mention the yellow Mach 1 stripes along its flanks, there's no mistaking this car's mission. It's also kind of nice to see one that's clean and smooth, so no wing, no slats, just that classic sportsroof profile. Treated to a no-expenses-spared restoration, the bodywork is extremely good, with even gaps, a deep shine, and body panels that are as crisp as the day they popped out of the stamping dies. The blacked-out hood treatment was correctly done, enveloping most of the hood, and the scoop proudly wears 351 badges suggesting that it would be unwise to tangle with this pony on the street. The grille, bumpers, and other shiny bits look fantastic against the dark green finish and if there's any criticism to be leveled against this car, it may be that it's simply too nice. I mean, I don't want to be the first guy to scratch it, do you?
The beautiful white interior remains pretty much the way Ford made it, from the ribbed "comfort weave" seat covers to the woodgrained dash appliques meant to impart a sense of luxury to the Mach 1. Thanks to the restoration work, things like those seat covers, the carpets, door panels, and headliner were freshened to look like new and the combination is extremely appealing. The gauges show crisp markings, bright needles, and clear lenses, so they've probably been to the restoration shop as well, and the center console with its T-handle shifter is practically mandatory on a sporting Mustang like this. An AM radio was part of the options list and it's still in place, and the factory A/C has been upgraded with modern components under the hood. The back seat folds down to make for an impressive amount of carrying capacity for a pony car, and the trunk itself is neatly finished with a reproduction mat that offers a correct pebble grain pattern.
The M-code 351 Windsor under the hood is light like a small block should be, making this Mach 1 a tidy handler as well as a great straight-line brawler. Fully rebuilt with receipts, it includes a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, dual exhaust, and factory-style hardware throughout, including the exhaust manifolds. Better yet, someone paid more than a fair amount of attention to the little things, including Ford Blue paint, correct hoses, proper fasteners, and a factory-style radiator, which all give the engine bay a rather authentic look. Underneath, the chassis is neatly finished with red oxide floors, a rumbling exhaust system with correct transverse muffler, and a stock suspension setup. Recent shocks, gas tank, and lines mean that nothing has been overlooked, and with 3.00 gears in the 9-inch rear end, it's comfortable just about anywhere. 14-inch styled steel wheels with 215/70/14 BFGoodrich radials give it the perfect performance look.
Nicely documented with a Marti Report and receipts, this Mach 1's new owner will have to decide whether he likes going fast or going to shows better. Actually, why not do both? Call today!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
