Ford Mustang 302 V8 1965

General description : Backing 302 cubic inches of VanGordon performance with a massaged suspension, a professionally built 9-inch and a professionally built Tremec 5-speed, this polished thoroughbred mixes old school class with new school skill. And if you're ready to feel the summer breeze behind the wheel of a storied Detroit legend, it's a chance to turn your dreams into reality!
The beneficiary of a professional, ground-up restoration that combines solid metal with tailored aesthetics, this well done classic wears a rich coat of Ford Laser Red 2-stage. That paint looks great under Pearl Shelby top stripes. Those stripes are an excellent complement to a pinned, Shelby-style hood. All the car's emblems have been carefully shaved, with the exception of a bright pony insignia that rides a classy mesh grille. Fresh chrome and stainless includes clean bumpers, factory handles and a duo of small mirrors. And those awesome bolt-ons terminate, quite literally, with a stylish Mustang GT rear valance.
Hoist this coupe's glossy hood and you'll find 302 cubic inches of proven Ford power that was professionally assembled by the folks at Upland, California's VanGordon Performance. At the top of the storied mill, a K&N X-Stream air cleaner funnels wind in to a Holley Street Avenger 4-barrel, which drops 570cfm of air and fossils into an Edelbrock Performer 289 intake. That intake is bolted to Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, which balance polished valve covers and a polished oil cap opposite Comp roller rockers, 2.02 intake valves and 1.60 exhaust valves. Those heads flood 4.030-bore cylinders, which hug a 3.000-inch stroke that's topped by forged Speed Pro pistons. Those pistons get pushed by a nodular crank, which, dynamically balanced, spins with a Comp hydraulic cam that features .286 lift and 219 duration. A quality MSD distributor sequences fire between a chrome coil and loomed Taylor plug wires. Spent gases are jettisoned through coated Tri-Y headers. And the car's Satin Black engine bay is clean and well done, all the way from its polished brace bar to its polished oil pan.
Not surprisingly, power meets the pavement through a thoughtfully upgraded chassis. The engine twists torque through a Tremec T5 5-speed that was sourced directly from D&D Performance. That transmission spins a Bill Thomas Enterprises 9-inch that's finished with 3.50 gears, 28-spline axles and Traction-Lok differential. That axle pushes a traditional Mustang suspension that's been augmented with a 1-inch sway bar, KYB shocks, 620 front springs and 5-leaf mid-eye rear springs. Turns come easy thanks to modern power assist. Stops are a cinch thanks to an upgraded dual-circuit braking system that employs 11-inch slotted SSBC rotors in front of factory drums. The aforementioned headers dump spent gases in to aluminized pipes, which align an H-shaped crossover with glasspack mufflers and polished stainless tips. And everything rolls on California Pony Cars alloys, which twist 225/45ZR17 Continental ContiExtreme Contacts in front of 235/45ZR17 General Exclaim UHPs.
Pop the doors and you'll find an attractive Black interior that features upgrades in all the right places. Firm TMI seats are adorned in red-stitched Pony covers. In front of those thrones, a dual-cowl dash plants rebuilt factory telemetry between direct-fit audio, Auto Meter accessory gauges and a Scott Drake Rally Pac. Below that dash, fade-free carpet floats Mustang-themed floor mats under a polished shifter, a small console and factory side panels that are fashioned around 6-inch Kicker speakers. And the driver spins a handsome Grant steering wheel around stainless-trimmed foot pedals.
Easy to cruise and fun to look at, this awesome Mustang should make every enthusiast smile. It backs proven Ford performance with a solid restoration that's ready to blister the blacktop and stop the show! Call your friends at RK Motors Charlotte for more information.

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
