This example was built on July 27, 1964 at Fords Dearborn, Michigan facility and was originally delivered to the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area for sale. The early production "64" Mustangs are already becoming hard to come by but finding one that is opted with the 210HP D code 289 V8 in a convertible with a power top is next to impossible to find! These cars were the original "A code" Mustangs and production was much lower than the following "A code" cars of latter years.Even though the Mustang was introduced five months ahead of the traditional 1965 model year and fans popularly proclaimed early models as 1964 , all production cars received 1965 VINs and were marketed as 1965 models. This particular early example has had the same loving, careful owner since 1979! The term "1964 " was coined by Mustang enthusiasts to identify these early 1965 model year cars.Finished in Wimbledon White (code M), this cars paint and trim are in very good condition. The windshield and side glass are clear and intact. The ponys lights are also clear and in one piece, including the taillights with the 64 stamped on the left and right units. The car rolls on whitewall tires with factory deluxe wheel covers and both tires and wheels are in very good condition. All of the Mustangs body panels are solid and straight overall but there are some minor blemishes obvious at close range. The contrasting power-folding top is in good order and theres a blue tonneau cover to use when the top is folded down. The bumpers are in very good condition, the engine bay is very tidy and the battery looks very good while the trunk is in good order and features a full-sized spare tire. Even the smaller Mustang logos on the front fenders look good.As advertised on the front fenders, under the hood is a D code 289 CID V-8 engine with a four-barrel carburetor producing 210HP breathing through a single exhaust pipe. This Mustang still retains a lot of its 1964 details such as the engine has a factory generator, the valve covers are painted gold, battery cooling vents (louvers),horns located inside the engine compartment with correct relay,Falcon gauge bezel with GEN light, A on the vent knob and the correct peddles and window handles.Inside, the blue interior, (code 82) with its blue crinkle vinyl seats, is in overall very good condition and mostly appears very original. The seats look great, front and rear; the matching carpet is in similar great shape. The blue instrument panel is in very good order. Mustang purists will note that this car has Ford Falcon gauge bezels and there is a generator idiot light on the instrument panel and the accelerator and brake pedals lack stainless steel surrounds. Also, the horn is inoperable. However, the three-spoke steering wheel looks as iconic now as it did when new. The inner door panels are in overall good condition though some paint chipping is evident and there are a couple of other, minor blemishes inside. The mirror glass and shift lever are in good shape and finishing off the interior is a factory AM radio.Introduced early on April 17, 1964, (16 days after thePlymouth Barracuda) and thus dubbed as a "1964" by Mustang fans, the 1965 Mustang was the automaker's most successful launch since theModel A. The Mustang has undergone several transformations since then and is the only current pony car to boast continuous production since its launch. In fact, the Mustang created the pony car class of American automobiles affordable sportycoupeswith long hoods and short rear decks and gave rise to competitors such as theChevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird,AMC Javelin, Dodge Challenger and Plymouth Barracuda plus a twin from 1979 to 1986 in the Mercury Capri. This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
