Ford Mustang 1966

General description : Want some incredible Ford muscle? Want it in a package that doesn't require red ropes and a car bubble? Well, as the old saying goes: 'Car culture starts where the assembly line stops'. And now that more and more authentic, numbers-matching classics are being confined to private collections, enthusiasts are filling the void with creations like this killer Mustang resto-mod. The beneficiary of a ground-up, nut-and-bolt restoration, this neat notchback wraps a spry 302/5-speed drivetrain in bold, Bullitt-esque aesthetics that dramatically emphasize form. If you've always dreamed of owning a choice pony car, but don't want the inherent stress that comes with authenticity, here's the perfect solution!
ALL BLUE, ALL BUSINESS
The beneficiary of a three-year nut-and-bolt restoration that was completed by Gordon's Classic Restorations of Dallas, Georgia, this choice resto-mod is constructed of largely original sheetmetal that's been fully blasted, carefully prepped and highly polished. By fully blasted, we mean media-blasted bare. By carefully prepped, we mean straightened at the hands of professionals. And by fully polished, we mean coated in sophisticated Nightmist Blue two-stage that's both classy and unique. At the front of that pigment, a polished bumper splits traditional headlights, traditional parking lamps and a factory grille that's been shaved of its horse. Behind that grille, a stainless-trimmed hood props an aggressive scoop in front of muted wipers and a stainless-trimmed greenhouse. At the sides of that glass, polished drip rails shade a sculpted profile that's been shaved of everything but a factory mirror and factory handles. And at the back of that profile, a second polished bumper splits an ornate fuel filler, bright taillights and polished exhaust tips.
PERFECTING THE 302
Hoist the hood and you'll find 302 cubic inches of Ford Roller crate engine that was acutely tuned during the car's detailed restoration. At the top of that machined and seasoned mill, a billet-capped air cleaner funnels wind into a coated Holley 4-barrel that's wired to an electronic choke. The resulting air/fuel mixture makes its way from an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake to iron GT40 heads. Those heads prop stylish Edelbrock covers on stainless valves, hardened guides, screw in studs and Manley chromoly pushrods. The Jet Black block hides a balanced rotating assembly that's built with an Eagle crank, Eagle I-beam rods and high performance pistons. A custom-grind COMP hydraulic roller cam works well with a hot HEI distributor, a double-roller timing set and proven Taylor plug wires. Spent gases are jettisoned through coated long-tube headers. Cooling is provided by an aluminum Northern radiator. Oiling gets handled by a high quality Melling pump. Construction included a roster of first rate details, like ARP bolts, performance bearings and hand-filed performance rings. And overall, the car's smoothed and body-matched engine compartment is exceptionally well done, featuring ancillaries like a proven Optima battery, a contrasted Edelbrock breather and a chrome dipstick.
BUILT TO ENJOY!
At the bottom of this pony, a trusty Tremec TKO500 5-speed twists torque to an 8-inch Ford axle that turns fun, 3.55 gears. That pumpkin pushes a lowered independent front and solid axle rear suspension that's supplemented with Scott Drake springs and Bilstein shocks. Braking is class, with 4-piston Wilwood calipers leading rebuilt factory drums. Borgeson power steering dials in the turns. The aforementioned headers dump spent gases into aluminized pipes, which align an H-shaped crossover with buff Flowmaster mufflers. And everything rolls on American Racing Torq Thrust IIs, which spin smoked chrome reflections inside 225/45ZR17 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports and 235/45ZR17 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports.
CLASSIC DONE RIGHT
Pop this 'stang's doors and you'll find a crisp Parchment interior that's clean, contrasting and exceptionally cool. Stainless-trimmed buckets both look and feel great. In front of those thrones, a stylish dash frames bright AutoMeter telemetry that keeps precise tabs on the car's vitals, and modern JVC audio that jolts big Kicker DS speakers. At the floor, fade-free carpet frames a short Hurst shifter. Opposite that stick, stainless-trimmed door panels hang small armrests beneath polished handles. And the driver spins a thick, Mustang-themed steering wheel.
Fully sorted and ready to cruise, this impressive Ford is a timeless take on the traditional pony car premise. With great performance, a classic driving experience and killer looks, it's the kind of car that'll have you thanking yourself with every walk to the garage. Ready to own one of the hottest muscle cars on the planet? Your Mustang is waiting!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
