New to our Benicia showroom is this beautiful, eye-catching 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT 2 Door Hatchback with stunning teal exterior paint and a very impressive grey factory leather interior. You’ll find a 5.0L Cobra V-8 engine under the hood with a 5-speed manual transmission, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, sunroof, power front disc brakes, power steering, factory stereo, an aftermarket alarm system and so much more. This outstanding limited-production example has a mere 65,171 lifetime miles on the odometer, True mileage unknown as there is a discrepancy in the Carfax report, odometer shows 36,171, Please look at the three reports in the picture section. He was drawn to this particular example due to it’s outstanding overall condition with immaculate body lines, quality paint and an outstanding factory interior with correct badging and trim throughout. Even the engine bay shows like-new in appearance and it is easily one of the most impressive examples we’ve come across the past several years.
As most collectors already know, less than 5,000 of the highly desirable Ford Mustang Cobra Hatchbacks were built by the Special Vehicle Team in 1993 and it is believed that there are less than 2,700 still in operation today. Out on the open road, this example delivers tremendous power to the wheels with fantastic handling thanks to the SVT Cobra 302 V-8 motor rated at 235 horsepower and 280 ft/lbs. of torque. About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.
In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.
In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
