Ford Thunderbird 400 V8 1977

General description : EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN W/ ONLY 24,847 ACTUAL MILES! LOADED W/ COLD A/C! DRIVES GR8!

It's a rolling example of mid '70s cool and, during an era when gas was becoming scarce and a full-fledged embargo was around the corner, this 1977 Ford Thunderbird Town Landau rolled out in all of its sizable splendor, offering inspired styling and a smooth ride. Downsizing may have arrived, but this T-Bird steadfastly refused to give up much ground as far as stature was concerned. It's only logged an incredibly low 24,847 miles in its substantial lifetime, so it's running strong and stands ready to bring its vintage mojo to its next lucky owner.
While it was marketed at the time as a "personal luxury car," make no mistake - this is one generously proportioned two-door cruiser. Its sharp look marked the arrival of the seventh generation of Thunderbirds and the styling cues on board made representatives like this '77 a rousing success that enjoyed all-time sales records. Its unusually light usage combines with plenty of time under shelter to leave this Thunderbird in impressively clean condition. White exteriors aren't the most forgiving, and the one here really represents well - you won't find any major blemishes and the Landau top with its vinyl surface and stainless steel insert still looks good. From the front bumper to the back and all the trim and badging in between, the chrome still sits securely and has a nice shine to it. Pinstriping - a hallmark of '70s automotive style - runs the considerable length of its sides and frames the surfaces of the hidden headlight covers, and you'll still find nice, sharp edges on all of it.
Time has been kind to the red vinyl interior and from all appearances, it doesn't seem to have seen much activity over the years. The split bench up front and bench seat in the back are looking plush and comfortable and there's some substantial real estate separating them, so your backseat passengers will ride in comfort. Still-fresh red carpeting stretches the length of the floor under the seating and up front, the dash area looks great, with nice clear gauges in the instrument cluster, woodgrain inserts that show no fading from UV exposure and a straight, crack-free dash pad over the top. For a '70s era cruiser, there are a lot of comfort features on board, including power seats, power windows, power door locks, a tilt column and air conditioning that's at the top of its game and has been updated to modern coolant. The stock 8-track stereo maintains its position for a truly era-appropriate look, while a Pioneer AM/FM/CD system with Bluetooth connectivity sits waiting with its remote in the glove box to provide modern audio options. The trunk area in back is nice and roomy and in clean condition, with a full-size spare sitting inside.
This T-Bird shows all the hallmarks of being well-cared for and when you turn the ignition key, the 400 cubic inch V8 springs into action willingly and runs smoothly, teaming with a 3-speed automatic transmission to make up an all original drivetrain that's in very road-ready shape. 4-wheel power brakes, with discs up front, provide the stopping ability, and power steering makes for easy navigation of this sizable classic as it brings its vintage style to the asphalt on a set of 15" stock Ford rims, wrapped with National XT4000 tires. A look below reveals just the reassuringly solid undercarriage you'd hope for in a car that's led such a pampered existence - solid floorpans, a fresh-looking exhaust and straight suspension components.

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
