Ford Thunderbird 390 V8 1964

General description : Description
This 1964 Ford Thunderbird might just be the most affordable way to take home a comfortable cruiser with serious style. In fact, with vintage look, V8 power, updated air conditioning, and upgraded four-wheel disc brakes, this is a classic coupe that you can enjoy any day of the week.
This T-bird has true classic style. It mixes some of the aggressive muscle car style of the 1960s with the elegance you demand of a Thunderbird. That's how you get a shark-like nose and hood scoop artfully blended with the fender skirts and formal hardtop. Navajo Beige is the factory-correct color, and it has a vintage vibe of a worn-in finish. The chrome bumpers are some of the best integrated forms ever put on a vehicle. The front has a swoopy design that frames the headlights and surrounds the grille. In the rear, it's a bright endcap for one of the most interesting trunk lines to ever hit the road. And everything from the factory-style wheel covers to the sequential taillights really delivers the classic details you'll love.
Personal luxury really meant something in 1964, and so everyone gets a bucket seat (and the driver's power adjusts, too.) The factory-correct Pearl Beige looks nice against the exterior color and all that bright trim inside. A center console was standard equipment, and the way the trim is laid out reminds us all the driver is king. This also includes controls for the power windows, power locks, and an AM/FM radio. They all have a classic feel in this highly original-style interior. Plus, the air conditioning has the classic controls, but it's an updated unit running modern R134a. More of this time capsule feel is in the gauges have that 60s-cool setup that is so intricate that we know no factory would ever dare try in modern times. The ribbon-style speedometer sits on top, and four fashionable individual round pods finish the gauge package.
The big block 390 cubic-inch V8 was the only motor available in '64, and that's because it had the horsepower and torque to keep everyone happy. This one is believed to be the original motor, and it looks to have been treated to the right maintenance. So while you'll like the cool golden look of the components, don't forget to spot useful upgrades like the MSD ignition and Wilwood master cylinder. The V8 fires up eagerly as it inhales deeply with a four-barrel carburetor. The a three-speed automatic transmission and power steering make driving easy. Plus, the four-wheel power disc brakes are an upgrade that really give added driver confidence.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual, build receipts, service manuals, and maintenance records. This T-bird has the style, features, and price you like, so don't miss this deal. Call now!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
