Ford V-8 350 V8 1939

General description : COAST TO COAST BUILD, 350 V8, AUTO, VINTAGE A/C, AIR RIDE, BEAUTIFUL PAINT!

With its high impact look, you might expect this 1939 Ford Cabriolet from the makers at Coast to Coast to be all about the WOW factor, and sacrifice the quality of the driving experience in the quest to turn heads and drop jaws. Not so. A great combination of powerful aesthetics and an array of great components and amenities make it a ride that's every bit as much fun to drive as it is to gawk at.
We're used to seeing our share of great exteriors, but we're still impressed with the quality of this tangerine orange paint. It's very well-applied, with a nice even coloring under a very impressive clear coat. A 3M clear bra has been seamlessly applied on its nose, so this street rod finds itself free of the commonly encountered damage from road debris. The modifications have been so tastefully done that you'll find yourself not only appreciating the workmanship that went into them, but also just how revolutionary and inspired the original mid to late '30s Ford Roadsters were. As the very picture of a great modded street rod, there's plenty of curvature on display here, and the frenched headlights and modified grille give the front end a custom look, but put this '39 side by side with an original and you can see how all the work was done with an abiding respect for that great vintage design. Its open air configuration is another great benefit, but should the skies darken when you're on the road, you'll have a tight fitting black canvas convertible top at your disposal, as well as an accessory hard top for even more protection.
Open up a suicide door to climb inside, and you'll find a very stylish and comfortable tan interior waiting. The low backed bucket seats are very comfortable and supportive, and show little wear on their leather surfaces - a nice by-product of this roadster's light usage since being built. Sitting between those seats is a very impressive custom aluminum center console that leads up to a matching dash area that carries an assortment of white-faced VDO gauges and a trio of well-placed registers that are powered by a Vintage Air climate control system to keep you and your passengers comfortable while on the road. A Kenwood AM/FM/CD system sits within easy reach behind the seats to attend to your audio needs. When you grip the Budnik steering wheel and grasp the billet knob of the floor shifter, you can't help but smile. As a healthy-sized two-seater, there's plenty of storage room in the back, and you'll find that area in great shape - with tan upholstered walls and a carpeted floor. Power windows and remote doors are a couple of nice and unexpected features.
This roadster has been configured for inspired but worry-free motoring. A 350 V8 sits underneath its prominent hood, carrying a solid 300 horsepower. It's running nice and smooth, and produces a great, rumbling exhaust note as it exhales out into a pair of ceramic headers that lead to its MagnaFlow exhaust. It's paired with a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that has a well-deserved reputation for solid dependability to make for a powerful drivetrain that's also fully up to the challenge of actual driving conditions, and with positraction in back, this is a sure-footed ride, as well. This attention-grabbing modded Ford sits on a set of Ridler wheels - 17" in front and 18" in back.

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.

Today classic Fords are extremely popular with enthusiasts and a great selection of classic Fords can be found for sale at www.ClassicDigest.com
