Ford Woody 2002 Camaro LS1 1951

General description : 1951 Ford Woodie Wagon The vintage Woodie was introduced back in the 30's and were often conversions of normal vehicles by 3rd party coachbuilding firms and even local carpenters.  These vehicles utilized wood construction of their passenger compartment for a really neat unique look.  Woodgrain accents are still available today but US produced Woodies ended in 1953 with the Buick Super Estate Wagon.  The Morris Minor over in Europe continued until 1971 and is the last true mass produced Woodie out there.  This very clean 1951 Ford takes it all to another level combining its unique Woodie appearance with very well done customizations to make it truly 1 of a kind.  The non Woodie portions of the body are all steel and painted in a very nice Slate Gray paint.  The wood is all custom made White Birch buried under many coats of varnish.  The body has been chopped 2 inches and completely shaved of any door handles or rain gutters.  It now has a 1 piece door, quarter and curved windshield, pied/pancaked hood, and flipped and tightened bumpers.  The turn signals have been incorporated into the running lights and in back it has custom 1939 Ford taillights.  It also has a very cool recessed and incorporated spare on the rear tail gate.  Literally nothing was untouched or overlooked on this car.  It has no problem taking home awards and was the 2005 Goodguys custom of the year and the NSRA custom of the year.  It has also been in its fair share of magazines and was featured in the 2005 Hot Rod magazine.  The car has a great stance and rolls around on custom Intro wheels (18x7 front, 20x9 rear) with low profile Pirelli tires.   Just by the look of the exterior you can bet this thing is no longer powered by its original Flathead.  It now has a 2002 LS1 engine out of a Camaro and performs extremely well.  It sits in a very cleanly designed engine compartment with custom firewall and custom inner fenders.  The motor looks just as great as it runs and delivers a great sound through dual exhaust.  The motor is paired with a 4L60E transmission that shifts smoothly.  The car sits on a stock frame that has been boxed and is nicely painted to match the body.  It rides on adjustable coil over suspension with a Scott's hot rod front clip and Scotts hot rod four bar kit.  In back is a Ford 8 inch rear with drum brakes.  The brakes are power assist and it has Wilwood disks up front.  Other nice features include the painted to match 16 gallon plastic tank and the rack & pinion steering.  The interior of the car is finished out in a nice light tan leather and is one of the cleanest done interiors out there.  It features a nice split bench seat with bucket seat style backs.  The dash has been kept extremely clean and is painted to match the upholstery.  To achieve that clean look the AC/Heat controls and even wiper controls were all relocated to the glove box.  The dash now features only the all in one gauge and the clock.  The tilt column is painted to match and topped off with a matching vintage Ford steering wheel.  Behind the bench seat is where the Pioneer AM/FM/CD/Ipod stereo was relocated and it sounds great through 6 Henden speakers with 2 amps.  This custom Woodie is extremely clean and needs nothing but a new home.  You couldn't come close to building it for only $94,500.00! Will consider interesting trades!

About Ford
Ford, founded in 1902, has arguably changed the history of automotive world more than any other car manufacturer by introducing the first people's car Model T in 1908. They had produced more than 15 million cars by the end of the production in 1927, by which T had become obsolete.

Ford launched the first low priced V8 engine powered car in 1932. 1932 V8 was an instant hit with superior handling and performance to many far more expansive cars of the day. No wonder 32 V8 Ford has become such a favourite among hot rodders around the world with 32 Deuce coupe as their icon.

During the war Ford completely shut down civilian vehicle production to dedicate all its resources to the Allied war efforts (1942-45) They used to build B-24 bombers, aircraft engines, jeeps, M-4 tanks, military trucks and Bren-gun carriers and more than 30,000 super-charged Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines for Mosquito and Lancaster bombers as well as P-51 Mustang fighters. After the war Ford cars in the USA got bigger and flashier along with their competitors. In the 60's Ford was back in the forefront again when introducing their commercial hit Mustang in 1964. Mustang was so popular the competition had to follow Ford's example and the ponycar phenomenon took over the US. Over the years the ponies grew some muscles until the oil crisis kill finally killed them off.

In the sixties Ford rushed into international motor sports scene with a fury. After unsuccessful Ferrari takeover, when Enzo Ferrari had cut the deal off with Henry Ford II making the latter absolutely boil with fury, Ford turned to Lola in UK to produce a Ferrari beating long distance racer after. The collaboration between Ford and Lola created the mighty Ford GT40 that absolutely beat Ferrari in Le Mans 24 numerous times.

In Europe, Ford introduced some of the most epic race and rally cars of the 60's based on humble family sedans; Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, Escort Twin Cam, and Escort 1600RS with the iconic Cosworth BDA engines.
