GMC Jimmy 1953

General description : We are excited to offer this very-well restored silver and dark cherry 1953 GMC 5-Window Deluxe for sale at our Gateway Classic Cars Showroom in Saint Louis. This classic pick-up truck doesn't need any work. It is ready to enjoy today and priced to sell immediately. BACKGROUND: Beginning in 1920, GMC and Chevrolet trucks became largely similar, built as variants of the same platform, sharing much the same body sheet-work, except for nameplates and grilles – though their differences, especially engines, have varied over the years. GMC advertising marketed its trucks to commercial buyers and businesses, whereas the Chevy's targeted private ownership. From 1939 to 1974 GMC had its own line of six-cylinder engines, first the inline sixes known as "Jimmy's" from 1939–1959 (source: Wikipedia). This particular GMC truck has an easy to start and fun to drive 261 Inline Straight Six. It is still being driven by a 3-speed manual transmission on the floor. It has a powered by "you" steering and braking and only 1,743 miles after the rebuild. The current owner is its second post-rebuild. One of the best reasons to be interested in this 1953 GMC Truck is how unique this color scheme is. The exterior body has been painted in a satin gloss non-metallic silver that has maintained very good quality. The running boards fitted tight to the body and can withstand the pressure of body weight climbing in the truck. The dark cherrywood floor boards in the bed are in excellent condition and are a very attractive and distinguishing feature. The interior leather seats make the floor-boards and against the silver truck provide a striking and unique color combination. There are no tears, stains, or odors in the exterior. In short, you have every reason to inquire further about this 1953 GMC 5-Window Deluxe by viewing it in greater detail, including HD pictures and an HD video of the car running and driving at our website - http://www.gatewayclassiccars.com. About GMC
Did you ever mistake a Chevy pick up for GMC? No wonder as those have been virtually identical apart from the grill and logo since the 20's.
The difference is Chevrolet trucks were marketed towards private users, while GMC was intended for commercial use, so it's more about market segmentation than anything else.
