Looking like Sue Ellen Ewing from €œDallas€ or Alexis Carrington from €œDynasty€ drove it when new, MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer this 1986 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas sedan. The Vanden Plas was the top-of-the-line trim level. These clean and sorted series lll XJ’s are becoming excellent entry level classics and you receive a lot value for your money such as handmade coach produced interiors, stylish and classic Jaguar exterior lines and the legendary Jaguar inline six that growls true to it’s name!
Made in August 1985 at Jaguar’s Brown’s Lane assembly plant in Coventry, England, this cat is dressed in rich Regency Red with a doeskin interior. The car’s paint and trim are in overall very good shape, with only minor blemishes visible at close range. The windows are clear and intact, including the rear window with defroster grid, and look great overall but in the lower left corner of the windshield, the rubber seal shrank/is misaligned. All of this cat’s lights are present, intact and clear.
The car rolls on radials, size 215/70R15, surrounding factory wire wheels. The wheels and tires are in overall good condition. The car’s body panels are straight and solid, including the power sunroof, while the boot (that’s trunk for you Americans) interior is in decent order. Under the bonnet, (that’s hood for you Yanks) the bay is tidy and features a 4.2L straight six-cylinder engine with seven main bearings, Lucas-Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection and breathes through dual exhausts. Buttoned to the engine is a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission and 2.88:1 gearing.
Driver convenience features include automatic climate control, cruise control, power assisted rack-and-pinion steering, power four-wheel disc brakes, power window lifts, power seats and power door locks.
Inside, the Doeskin interior is eye-catching. The Connolly Leather seats are in near-excellent order, with the matching Wilton Wool carpet in very good condition. When new, the front seats were hand-made to orthopedic specifications for comfort and support. The rear seat passengers were not shortchanged, either, with contoured seats, a folding center armrest that also provides storage. There are reading lights that swivel and seatback magazine pockets. The headliner is in decent condition, considering it shares real estate with the sunroof. The instrument panel, with its full instrumentation and burled walnut trim is in one piece and attractive. The original, two-spoke steering wheel, which adjusts telescopically, is present and the inner door panels with matching burled walnut accents are in overall good order but the driver’s side one shows some blemishes, likely due to weather exposure since new. The mirror glass, center console and shift lever are in overall good shape but the center console has a few blemishes. The gas gauge is inoperable. Completing the interior is an 80-watt, factory AM/FM stereo with cassette deck and four speakers.
Competition to this Jaguar in 1986 included Bentley’s Mulsanne, Cadillac’s Seville Éléganté, Chrysler’s Fifth Avenue and Mercedes-Benz’s 300SEL.
According to the 1986 Jaguar XJ6 brochure, Guillaume Vanden Plas inherited his uncle’s wheel-making business in Brussels, Belgium in 1870. He soon moved the shop to Antwerp and moved beyond just making wheels into complete carriage- and coachworks. Soon Vanden Plas built a reputation for distinctive and exquisite coaches. In the 20th century, the coachbuilder made limited-edition motorcars for Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Daimler, Talbot, Bugatti and Lagonda.
This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 143,853 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!

About Jaguar XJ6
3 / 3

The Jaguar XJ6 is a luxury sedan that was produced by Jaguar Cars from 1968 to 1997. It was designed by Sir William Lyons, who was the founder of the Jaguar company and had a significant impact on the British automotive industry.

The XJ6 was introduced as a replacement for the aging Jaguar Mk2 sedan and was designed to be a more modern and refined luxury car. It featured a sleek, aerodynamic body and was powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six engine that produced up to 245 horsepower.

The XJ6 was known for its smooth and comfortable ride, as well as its handling and performance capabilities. It was also well-equipped with luxury features, including leather seats, wood trim, air conditioning, and power windows.

Over the years, the Jaguar XJ6 underwent several updates and revisions, with newer models featuring more advanced technology and improved performance. However, the classic XJ6 remains a popular choice among Jaguar enthusiasts and collectors, thanks to its timeless design and super comfortable ride.
