1952 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe Manual For Sale In London (LHD)

Introduced in October 1948 at the Earls Court Motor Show in London, the Jaguar XK 120 prototype caused an instant sensation. It was initially intended as a testbed for a new engine that Jaguar chairman and design czar Sir William Lyons had planned. Public reaction to its flowing curves and styling proportions was so positive, however, that the car was quickly put into production in 1949. The XK’s “120” designation stood for its claimed top speed of 120 mph, an assertion that proved true, making it the world’s fastest production car in the world at the time. Just the sight of one at Earls Court created nothing short of fanfare. Jaguar dealerships were overwhelmed with orders, and the car proved to be just as much of a commercial success as it was an engineering triumph. From 1949 to 1954, only 2,680 fixed head coupes were produced, most equipped with left-hand drive for the American market.

This exquisite XK120 FHC was delivered new in left-hand drive form. Finished in Beautiful Jaguar Racing Green coachwork with Biscuit Connolly hide and matching carpets. Having been subjected to a body off restoration it is evident that since these works were completed this incredible example has had little use. Standing proudly and sitting on gleaming chrome spoke wire wheels with two ear spinners and fitted with matching period Dunlop Road Speed tyres.

Age eligible for the Mille Miglia 2019, these XK’S are hugely underrated and an appreciating classic with panache personified to match. Complete with tool roll, it will simply not fail to disappoint upon viewing.

About Jaguar XK120
The Jaguar XK120 is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful sports cars of the 1940s, and indeed one of the most beautiful cars ever made. It was introduced in 1948 and remained in production until 1954.

The XK120 was powered by a 3.4-liter straight-six engine that produced up to 160 horsepower, which was a significant amount of power for a sports car of its time. It was also one of the first cars to feature disc brakes, which gave it impressive stopping power.

But it was the XK120's stunning design that truly set it apart. Its long hood, flowing lines, and sleek curves made it an instant classic, and it was favored by celebrities and racing drivers alike. The XK120 was also available as a roadster or a coupe, further adding to its appeal.

The XK120 was also a successful racing car, winning numerous races and setting several speed records. It was a favorite of racing drivers such as Stirling Moss and Juan Manuel Fangio, and helped to establish Jaguar as a major force in international motorsport.

Overall, the Jaguar XK120 was a true automotive masterpiece, combining beauty, performance, and innovation in a way that few cars have been able to match.
