Lincoln Continental 430 CID V8 1963

General description : For sale in our Chicago showroom is a gorgeous 1963 Lincoln Continental Convertible. The fourth generation of the Continental was introduced in 1961 and was an extensive redesign of anything previously offered by the marque. The low sleek profile accompanied with minimal chrome and stainless trim was something that caught the public’s eye and also brought back something not seen in year, “Suicide Doors”. Also a first was bringing back a 4-door convertible that was not seen in many years previously. Unlike comparable vehicles offered by Chrysler and General Motors the Lincoln featured a fully automatic convertible top that was controlled completely with the pull or push of the dash mounted lever. Upon engagement with the top up the front pull down levers are released and the rear deck lid begins to open and the convertible top lowers back and the deck lid re-secures itself back into place. Not only is this convenient for the driver but also a joy to watch as the hydraulic and electro-mechanical system goes to work. Under that sleek hood is the reliable and smooth running 430 Cubic Inch V8 that starts up easy and sounds whisper quiet at idle and upon acceleration. The 3-Speed automatic transmission shifts smooth and precisely and will get this beauty up to speed without hesitation. For better ride and handling an adjustable air ride suspension has been installed with the compressor and take neatly tucked under the automatic trunk that makes driving this Lincoln like floating on a cloud. Options on this Continental include power steering, power brakes, AM radio with pushbutton presets, power seat, power windows, Autronic Eye, temperature control, working air conditioning and power convertible top. This fine example has undergone a recent, high level and high dollar restoration including new paint and luxurious leather interior with great amount of detail paid to the mechanics to make this a roadworthy driver. This is a great vehicle to look at and an even bigger joy to drive down the open road and garner all of the thumbs up and waves you could ever want. About Lincoln
Lincoln, often regarded as more than just an upmarket Ford, has carved its own niche in the automotive world with a rich history and a lineup of distinctive models. Let's take a stroll down the memory lane of Lincoln's story.

Early Beginnings:

Founded in 1917 by Henry Leland, the man behind the Cadillac brand, Lincoln initially started as a luxury automobile company. The brand quickly gained a reputation for its quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

The Ford Era:

In 1922, Lincoln was acquired by the Ford Motor Company, and this marked the beginning of a long association. Ford aimed to position Lincoln as its luxury division, competing with other prestigious brands in the market.

Classic Models:

Over the years, Lincoln introduced several iconic models that left a lasting impact on the automotive landscape:

Lincoln Continental: Launched in the 1940s, the Continental became an instant classic. Its elegant design and iconic suicide doors made it a symbol of luxury and sophistication.
Lincoln Town Car: Introduced in the 1980s, the Town Car became synonymous with chauffeur-driven luxury. Its spacious interior and smooth ride made it a favorite among executives and dignitaries.
Lincoln Navigator: The late '90s saw the rise of the SUV craze, and Lincoln was quick to respond with the Navigator. A full-size luxury SUV, the Navigator combined opulence with utility and became a popular choice among affluent families.
