Description : Gateway classic cars of Nashville is proud to digitally present to you this 1989 Mazda RX-7 GTU. This sharp RX-7 looks great in red with two coats of ceramic, the charcoal interior works great as a contrast. The RX-7 utilizes the Wankel, or rotary engine. Where conventional engine has pistons that slide up then down in the cylinders, the rotary engine has two spinning rotors and a total of 3 moving parts! No valves, camshaft, lifters or timing chains. These power plants are very efficient and from the factory made 160 Horsepower with just 1.3 liters of displacement. If you own a small block Chevy, you can increase the horsepower with a cam swap or change the intake and Carb. Rotary engines are different, in order to make more horsepower requires a steady hand and the experience to know where to increase the ports. This engine has been mildly ported by Defined Autoworks and is equipped with lightened rotors and flywheel to allow for faster spin up. The intake is from an old Cosmo and is multi point fuel injected. The exhaust is Racing beat and comes with an awesome header. All controlled by a Haltech ECU. This combination was dyno 'ed at 230 horsepower. Of course, the Apex seals and springs have been replaced a mere 2,000 miles ago. Megan racing coil overs and strut tower brace and Kansei KNP rims and a 5-speed manual transmission making this car a true driver's car. This car looks great, drives great, handles like a dream and even sounds great. It even sounds great do to the aftermarket sound system that includes a sub hidden in the cargo compartment and, the engine itself give an incredible sound that almost gives you the hint of a performance cam, if it had a cam at all. Options for this 1989 Mazda RX-7 GTU include: Air Conditioning, AM/FM CD player, Cloth interior, Power steering, radial tires and seatbelts.
