General description :
During the post war years in the US, two seaters that were sporty yet suitable for every day driving became more and more popular. The first Europeans serving this market were British manufacturers but Daimler-Benz was watching this closely until the Mercedes importer at the time, Max Hofman, encouraged the board to build a similar roadster. The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL, modeled after the 180, was born. The newly developed four-cylinder engine with overhead camshaft powered this pontoon limousine. With the sporty 190 SL it received a classic factory tuning and got to at least 105 PS. In March 1955 this beautiful roadster came onto the market and an astounding 25,881 cars were built and sold. Our Mercedes-Benz 190 SL received disc brakes at the front axle during its high end restoration in Germany which made the classic much more reliable for everyday use. It has consistently been driving at big outings and is immediately ready to go!
