MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this statuesque and rarely seen 1967 Pagoda. This true European classic is one of the most iconic sports cars in history, with very little design changes throughout it’s history. This is an unusual but successful combination of European handling and style with the grunt of American Muscle! From the outside this appears to be completely stock but pop the hood and you’ll find a powerful 351 WindsorV8!
In 1963 came the SL-Class230 SL, it was designated as the W113 chassis code. It featured a low waistline and big curved greenhouse windows, and a coupe roadsterwith detachable hardtop, whose distinctive roofline earned the nickname “pagoda top.”
Finished in a beautiful Light Beige (code 181) the paint job that shows extremely well. The matching Light Beige hard top has a an excellent fit and finish. There is a slight raised bump in the front hood to accommodate the large V8 and aid in air induction. The short front bumper with overriders fits well with an excellent finish. The rear short bumper with overriders has an excellent fit and finish that shows extremely well. The tan soft top fits tight with no fading or scratching in the back window that we could find. All trim pieces including the optional chrome fender trim are present and have a brilliant finish with no hazing and or dents. The European specification headlights and taillights are in very condition with no hazing or cracks..
Inside, the rich Saddle Tan MB-Tex/cloth seats all look great with no major signs of wear visible. Excellent matching carpet throughout the interior, with custom “351 SL” floor mats. Overall the genuine wood trim looks great. The door panels and dashboard are matched perfectly with the exterior of the car and look fantastic. The headliner for the hardtop mirrors the rest of the cabin and completes the theme. The weather stripping is still very pliable with very little shrinkage or drying. All the original equipment gauges are well placed, have correct appearance as originally design,however the, speedo, odo are inoperable. A nice addition, is the Behr air conditioning The original leather wrapped steering wheel in great condition along with the Audiovox AM/FM cassette radio and graphic equalizer.
This nicely presented Mercedes comes with a unusal performance upgrade, a Ford 351cid Windsoreight-cylinder engine fed by a 4 barrel carburetor sitting atop of a Edelbrock intake manifold. Power is transferred to the rear wheels by a 3-speed automatic transmission. Driver assist features are power steering, power brakes and four-wheel independent suspension. Chrome 15 inch original Mercedes alloys with sport radial tires.
Rarely will you get the opportunity to own a custom roadster like this Mercedes. Ideal for cross- town or cross-country, this 230SL is the way it’s suppose to be…luxurious exterior with the heart beat of American Muscle and the reliability of their parts! GET OUT AND DRIVE!
