Algemein: Im Jahr 1949 war der Peugeot 203 das erste komplett neue Nachkriegs-Modell des Französisch Automobile-Hersteller. Wann die Produktion von Vorgänger 202 im Jahr 1949 eingestellt wurde, war der 203 bis zur Einführung des 403 im Jahr 1954, der einzige zu Verfügung stehende Peugeot-Typ. Die selbsttragende Karosserie des 203 hatte für seine Zeit ein modernes Design. Das Auto wurde mit einem 1290 ccm Vierzylinder-Motor ausgestattet der 45 PS produzierte. Peugeot stellte 12 Karosserievarianten her, wie Limousine, Coupé, Cabrio und eine Vielzahl von Kombis. Diese hatten Namen wie Familiale, Commerciale, Fourgonnette, Fourgon und Camionnette.

Während seiner Produktionszeit (1949-1960) wurden 700.000 Stuck des 203 gebaut.
