Plymouth Roadrunner 440 1969

General description : The 1969 1/2 M CODE A12 Plymouth road runner that you see here is car # 74 in the A12 Registry. This car wears all of its original sheet metal and is a western car originally. This car is 1 of 388 road runners built with the A12 package, 4 speed, and coupe configuration. This car still has its numbers matching engine and transmission which is very rare in the world of A12s. The original fender tag shows the A12 sales code and also shows the scheduled production date of 426 (4/26/1969) which is the second batch of A12 cars produced. The engine in this car is the numbers matching engine and has the last 8 digits of the VIN stamped on the machine pad above the oil pan. The casting date of this engine is 5/5/69 with an assembly date stamping of 5/17/69. The E440 HP2 stamped engine was rebuilt to factory specifications. The original ultra-rare A12 exclusive air cleaner seals to the original lift off fiberglass hood which sets above the three original Holley 4391, 4393, and 4394 carbs that bolts to the original Chrysler/Edelbrock aluminum intake part # 3412046. The exhaust gases are spent through original correct casting HP exhaust manifolds, OEM H pipe, Hemi style mufflers, and decorative exhaust tips. The original Max Cooling equipped 054 radiator and shroud keep this engine running cool. The original matching numbers 18 spline Hemi 4 speed transmission has the last 8 digits of the VIN stamped on the flat machine pad. The power is transmitted to the original Dana 60 differential that now sports a 3.54 gear ratio for a better blend of cruising RPM and performance. The front and rear suspension retains all of the original HD components that made up the S15 handling package that came standard with the A12 package. Correct appearing black steel wheels are fitted with OEM type Firestone Wide Oval G70-15 tires including the spare. The interior of this car is very nice but Spartan as many A12 cars were. The original non- Rallye instrument cluster provides everything that you need to monitor the vitals including an optional tachometer. The AM radio and heater round out the option list in the interior and remind you that this car is all business and was built for one purpose- going fast in a straight line! This car runs and drives as good as it looks. The stiff suspension gives you a feeling of security while driving and you have to remind yourself that this is 50-year-old technology that you are behind the wheel of. Driving around town in this 390 horsepower 490 ft-lb of torque monster is as smooth as any grocery getter that you strap yourself into until you put your foot to the floor and those end carbs flop open- its all magic from there! Here is your chance to own one of the baddest muscle cars to ever leave Detroit.
