Description : Gateway Classic Cars of Fort Lauderdale is excited to present this hot 1968 Plymouth Road Runner in it's original colors of Ember Gold on silver & black. Let's get right to it: The VIN and data plate both confirm this tire-frying Plymouth was born a real Road Runner, with the 383 Hi-Performance 4Bbl V8, and 3-speed automatic transmission.

Plymouth's Road Runner was intended to be a bare-bones, budget muscle car- stripped of the unnecessary features most of the contenders came with. Light and simple, and very capable. Pontiac's 1969 GTO Judge was intended to be a direct competitor to Road Runners, but because the Judge option was above the already well-equipped GTO, they were usually more expensive and heavier that Plymouth's lighter, unibody secret weapon. And with engine options up to the mighty dual quad 426 HEMI, most competitors didn't stand a chance. All of Plymouth's performance big-blocks were strong, fast winding, torque filled powerplants.

Pop the hood on this Mopar and take in the show-ready engine bay. The fresh 383 is dressed to kill. The owner indicates the engine and transmission were rebuilt in 2021 and only have 200 miles on them since. Twist the key and this legendary Plymouth fires right up. It has a hot loping idle signaling it is ready to dominate.

The paint and body are very nice on this car, including the gaps all the way around. Likely better than when it left the St. Louis assembly line back in 1968. The paint is smooth with a deep high gloss. What a time it was in 1968, with cheap gas and all the muscle and pony car rivals competing on the streets... as the United States prepared to land humans on the moon the next year. Cars like this one were in the $3000 dollar range new, and are highly sought after in any condition. Today, they are coveted, appreciating assets- having already proven themselves time and time again decades ago. Some lucky person is going to buy this baby, dial it in and and enjoy all the rightful attention it brings. MEEP-MEEP!
