Description : Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is proud to present this low mileage 1989 Pontiac Firebird 20th Anniversary Trans Am GTA Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Edition. While having a mouthful of a name, this '89 Trans Am GTA Indy Pace Car is one of only 1,555 that were built, and this one has just under 16K miles on it. These special Turbo Trans Ams were built in partnership between Pontiac and Prototype Automotive Services ("PAS"), and they turned out a winner. To make the powertrain package fit properly, PAS made some changes in the engine bay, which enabled them to achieve better airflow from the headers, and resulted in an amazingly quick (for its time) 4.9 second 0-60 time, and a top speed of 162 MPH. The '89 Turbo T/A was only rated at 250HP but was suspected of being under-rated for insurance purposes, since many were found to be putting out in excess of 300HP in final guise. Whether it's the sweet gold rims, the aero gills, or the slick paint scheme, this Trans Am wasn't just sharp-looking for its time, it remains stylish even by today's standards. Under the hood of this iconic piece of history is GM's Buick-designed 3.8L Turbocharged V8 engine, which is backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission. To match the sharp gold rims on the car, this bad boy sports a tan leather interior that contrasts nicely with that Winner's White paint job. Features are in no short supply on this 20th Anniversary Trans Am GTA Indianapolis Pace Car Edition! This bad boy comes with A/C, AM/FM Radio, Cassette Tape Player, Leather Seating, Lumber Support, Power Brakes, Power Locks, Power Steering, Power Windows, and T-Tops. With a clean Carfax and low miles, anyone - collectors included - should jump on the opportunity to make this rare beast their own before it's too late. Call or email our Houston Showroom today!

Cessation of Production: Unfortunately, due to financial constraints and changes in consumer preferences, GM discontinued the Pontiac brand in 2010, marking the end of its legacy in the automotive industry.
