LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1972 Porsche 911S

By 1969, there were 3 different 911’s to choose from, the T, E, and S variants of which all could be tailored for the ordering customer with a variety of interesting options. The T was the base model which by 1970 still had carburetion; the E and S variants were both fuel-injected and offered additional power and top speed over the T. The S however was the pinnacle of power for production 911 models, and in 1972, its 2.4 power plant would be increased from 2,195 to 2,341cc, now sporting 190hp.

Further improvements continued for the 1972 911 S, including being fitted with the new 915 transmission, a stronger unit better suited for the increase in horsepower. This transmission used the “H” gate shift pattern, while eliminating the prior 901 transmission's "dog-leg" style first gear arrangement, which some drivers found challenging.

This highly desirable 911S example is finished in attractive Signal Yellow with Black Interior. It was delivered by Holbert's Porsche-Audi- VW Dealership in Warrington, PA on July 26 th, 1972. It is only one of very few fitted from the factory with a Sunroof. It recently underwent a detailed restoration by previous ownership to elevate this 2.4s to current condition. The prior owner invested over $70,000 alone to rebuild the numbers matching engine and transmission back to peak operating condition. During the restoration, a set of factory RS steel rear-wheel flares were added for a sportier look and the ability to fit larger tires as used on the Carrera RS variant.

Beautifully restored from top to bottom, this 911 2.4s is a well sorted example ready to be used at any show or touring event. Included in the sale are owner’s manuals, restoration receipts, tools and much more. If you are looking for an early 911s with a rare factory sunroof, this example is ready to be enjoyed equally on the show field or on the open road!

About Porsche 911 Early LWB
The early Porsche 911 long wheelbase models, also known as the "L" models, were produced from 1968 to 1973. They were named so because of their longer wheelbase, which increased by 2.4 inches from the previous models. The longer wheelbase provided a smoother and more stable ride, and also allowed for more interior space.

The long wheelbase models were powered by air-cooled, flat-six engines, with displacement ranging from 2.0L to 2.4L. They were available in coupe and Targa body styles, and were equipped with a five-speed manual transmission. Notable features of the long wheelbase 911s include their distinctive "ducktail" rear spoiler and Fuchs alloy wheels.

These early 911s are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts, pure as swb cars but easier to drive and handling better.
