Porsche 911 SC Targa 3.0 Liter H6 1980

General description : Description
From the very moment you put the key in the ignition of this 1980 Porsche 911 SC Targa, you will know precisely why Porsche is among the most respected names in the entire automotive world. Prepare to be amazed as you check out this quintessential legendary sports car, an impeccably maintained example that's been loved since the day it left Stuttgart.
Isn't it amazing how some colors just look like they belong on a particular body style? No question about it, the Casablanca Beige Metallic finish (best name EVER alert) that adorns this automobile is a perfect match for the sleek lines of the 911 SC. This car was repainted back-to-stock not long ago, and still maintains a nice bright shine, with a top driver-quality presentation that will easily be the envy at your next Porsche Club cruise-in. The fresh-looking finish is still very smooth to the touch, showing only minor signs of use likely not spotted by the layman, and the black targa top provides the perfect amount of dark contrast to the otherwise light palette. Bottom line, it's a top-quality drive that presents itself extremely well cosmetically. All the plastic trim is in good shape and perfectly accentuates the overall appearance, with clean bumpers fore and aft, and crack-free rubber throughout that's obviously been well-cared for and kept out of the sun. There's no whale-tail on this SC and frankly that makes us like it even more, because this sports car is not trying to be something that it isn't – it's a legend all on its own. Factory 16-inch Fuchs rims shod with sticky radials add yet another nice touch, giving this 911 that perfect stance we've all loved for decades. And to finish it all off, the wraparound red taillight/reflector displays the Porsche name with a boldness that reminds you what a legendary car this is as it overtakes you in the corners. If you're a Porsche aficionado, you'll have a hard time containing your enthusiasm once you hear the unforgettable sound of a 911 door being opened. It's deliberate and authoritative, with a familiar thud when the door closes flush. If you've ever heard it, you know what we're talking about. Looking inside, you'll see a wonderfully attractive Chocolate Brown leather interior with fresh seat covers, tight door panels, and new plush carpets. It is without a doubt the perfect color combination to complement the lighter exterior, giving this 911 a very sophisticated, grown-up look. When you crawl inside this 911, you know you're sitting in a car that was designed with the driver in mind, as the bolstered seats are firm, supportive, yet still all-day comfortable for those longer tours. Grasp the original Porsche steering wheel and look around as you bask in the comfort of the plush seats, at the helm of this German cockpit. Original race-bred VDO instrumentation places the tach directly in front of the driver, while all the other factory gauges are clearly marked and well within view. Options are limited, but you do get a tilt column, power windows, a heater, and a center console that houses the 5-speed manual. It's a radio-delete car, so you can hear the air-cool Flat 6 up and down the throttle, and the black targa top comes of in seconds for open-air fun. Under the bonnet there's decent room for an overnight bag or two, and strictly for insurance purposes the 911 got small rear buckets (which have also been recently reupholstered in brown leather), although only your most diminutive friends are going to be comfortable back there.
Revered for its performance and durability, the 911's tried-and-true 3.0L flat-six motor has long been acknowledged as one of the best Porsche engines ever built. Air-cooled and fuel-injected, this potent power plant has a sound and feel all its own. It was rated at 188 HP for 1980 and generates an insane amount of torque that enables it to launch like a rocket ship. If you're looking for a sports car with some serious motivation, this is it. The motor is incredibly healthy and runs great, with a stack of receipts that spell out lots of careful service maintenance throughout recent years totaling upwards of $15k. It's completely sorted out and turn-key ready, and the engine itself looks great because it was recently pulled, gone through, and completely repainted before it was returned back to the car. The five-speed manual transmission shifts smooth as silk and nails every gear with authority, and four wheel disc brakes were recently gone through and help stop this SC on a dime. Take a peek underneath and you'll see a super-sanitary suspension that showcases the benefits of German engineering coupled with a long life spent living easy in sunny Texas under the care of conscientious ownership. A set of classic Fuchs Porsche wheels finish off the Porsche perfectly, wrapped in sticky 205/55/16 front and 225/50/16 rear rubber with good tread left.
It takes some cars decades to be considered a classic, but this 1980 Porsche 911SC Targa was an icon on wheels the moment it rolled off the assembly line. Offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, owner's manuals, and a stack of receipts spelling out years of routine maintenance and care, this is the epitome of a driver's sports car.
