Porsche 911 GTS 2017

General description : Between 2011 and 2019, the 991-generation of Porsche’s iconic 911 introduced some of the most significant changes in the model’s extensive history. Officially the seventh generation of 911, the 991 was completely new from the ground up, based on a longer, wider platform with redesigned gearboxes, engines, and new styling that beautifully evolved the 911’s unbroken lineage from the original 901. With the arrival of the 991.2 in 2015, all standard Carrera models were turbocharged, allowing Porsche to meet increasingly stringent emissions regulations without sacrificing horsepower.

Like before, the newest 911 was offered in a wide range of flavors and trim levels ranging from relatively mild to utterly insane. Starting with the highly capable standard Carrera at the core, the 911 performance spectrum spreads out in multiple directions. One way leads to the mighty 911 Turbo S, with supercar performance and all the luxury trimmings of a world-class grand tourer. The other path leads to the hardcore, stripped-out and caged GT3 and GT2 RS models – racers for the road with mind-boggling levels of grip and flat-out pace for the track day enthusiast. However, without discounting the thundering Turbo or manic GT3, many aficionados believe the sweet spot rests somewhere between those two extremes, specifically, with the Carrera GTS.

As featured here, the 2017 911 Carrera GTS combines the best elements of the entire 911 range in a single, driver-focused model. It has the pure, unadorned shape of the standard Carrera but is slightly pumped-up with wider flares and more aggressive visual cues. This car, in 997.2 guise, packs a 3.0-liter turbocharged flat-six with 450 horsepower – that figure achieved through sports exhaust, larger turbos, and tuning wizardry. It also features the Sports Chrono package, sport seats, PASM adjustable suspension, and other cherry-picked performance bits from the Carrera option sheet. The GTS is good for an astounding 190 miles per hour at the top end (just nine mph shy of the 959!), yet the well-judged chassis setup ensures much more of that performance and deft handling is accessible by mere mortals on real-life roads.

This fantastic Miami Blue coupe has covered just 1,500 miles from new and is equipped in the purest, most driver-focused specification available on a GTS. This 2wd model (AWD was optional) features the highly desirable seven-speed manual gearbox and sunroof delete, saving considerable weight and ensuring blistering performance on the road or the racetrack. Other special-order options include the fabulous Miami Blue paint, 20-inch Carrera S wheels, black leather interior with Alcantara delete, heated/ventilated 14-way adjustable sports seats, GT Sport steering wheel, and Bose surround-sound audio. It is offered in superb condition from the 2nd owner, accompanied by original books, window sticker, Porsche COA, and a clean Carfax report.

As expected from such a low mileage example, the paintwork and exterior trim are exceptional. The silver-finish Carrera S wheels are superb and feature excellent Pirelli P-Zero tires all around. Likewise, the black interior is essentially like new, with beautiful black leather and carpets complemented by dark brushed-alloy trim. Buttons, switches, and controls are all in excellent order, and the alloy trim is virtually unmarked. This car’s enormous performance is balanced by an array of luxury niceties like heated/ventilated seats, satnav, and Bose audio to ensure maximum comfort in all conditions, whether you’re on an all-day road trip or exploring the outer limits at a track day.

It is no surprise that this ultra-low mileage Porsche needs nothing to enjoy from the first press of the starter. It runs beautifully and sounds superb – with the perfect balance of aggression and subtlety from the factory sports exhaust. This impeccable, collector-quality 911 GTS is undoubtedly a future classic Porsche, seamlessly blending touring and sport into one incredibly well-rounded package.
