Description : We are proud to offer this 1984 Porsche 944 at our Saint Louis showroom! This is a car anyone would be proud to own and thrilled to drive.

BACKGROUND: Porsche produced the 944's from 1982-1991. This variant was based on the 912 platform and offered a near perfect weight distribution with rear-wheel drive and front engine placement. In 1984 Car and Driver gave the 944 'Best Handling" and the 944 was rated Top Ten Best by Car and Driver from 83-85! These accolades come as no surprise. This IS a driver's car. You cannot help but smile behind the wheel of this piece of history.

The 944 market is still extremely affordable, and this is a well optioned and cared for example. Enter the fully-functional black leather interior with keyless entry and door poppers. The inside contrasts well with the Guards Red exterior. The paint shows extremely well and has a nice shine to it. No major defects present themselves on the outside of the car. This is a vehicle you can be proud to show and happy to drive. All the excitement starts up front with a 2.5L 8 valve engine, sending power through the 5-speed manual transmission. This beautiful 944 has a removable top, and factory AC to keep the drive cool. Additional options include cruise control, power windows, and a CD player. This one is priced to sell and ready to enjoy!

About Porsche 944
While the Porsche 944 shares some similarities with the Porsche 924, it is not accurate to say that the 944 is simply a 924 turned into a real sports car. The Porsche 944 was designed as a successor to the Porsche 924, but it featured significant changes and improvements that set it apart from its predecessor.

One of the most significant changes was the introduction of a new engine. While the Porsche 924 was powered by an Audi-sourced engine, the Porsche 944 featured a Porsche-designed inline-four engine, which was based on the engine from the Porsche 924 Carrera GT. The engine was mounted in the front of the car, but was located further back in the chassis than in the 924, which helped to improve handling and balance.

The Porsche 944 also featured a revised suspension system, with a wider track and a more advanced rear suspension setup than the 924. These changes helped to improve the car's handling and make it more responsive and agile.

Additionally, the Porsche 944 featured a revised body design, with a more aerodynamic shape and a more aggressive look than the 924. The car was also available with a range of performance upgrades, including a turbocharged engine and a range of sport suspension and brake packages.

Overall, while the Porsche 944 may have shared some components with the Porsche 924, it was a significant improvement over its predecessor and is widely regarded as a genuine Porsche sports car in its own right.
