Toyota Celica 2.4 L 1985

General description : RARE, F/I 2.4L, 4SPD AUTO, A/C, PWR STEER & BRAKE, CLEAN IN/OUT, RUN/DRIVE GR8!!

Time to get your hands on a limited edition droptop before the market for Japanese classics gets any hotter. This 1985 Toyota Celica GTS convertible is a survivor-grade example that will provide you with plenty of driving smiles and a ton of growing admiration.
The design of the third-generation Celica has matured into a terrific overall presentation. And you understand that exceptionally well thanks to meticulous care to this example. After all, the angular front end wouldn't be so attractive if the headlight doors didn't still fit flush. The dip in the trunk line needs to be crisp to really get noticed. Plus, the flared wheel arches and large factory GTS wheels really gave Toyota a sporty presence in the '80s. The way the red paint still shines today (believed to be the original application,) it will fill you with pride on every sunny day cruise. But even on the gray days, the black folding roof is a great complement to the trim, front end, and bumpers to almost give this one a two-tone effect. The roof is what makes this rare. The convertible was a specially completed by American Sunroof Corporation (ASC) for Toyota, and they only offered it on the final two years of this generation. It was an expensive option, and so it's estimated that around only 4,500 were produced in total.
Toyota gave this Celica GTS a unique-looking bucket seat interior, and so we are glad to see it so well preserved today. In fact, it doesn't even look like this convertible was ever left out in the sun. More than just distinctive, this is a comfortable cloth setup that comes loaded. Power locks, tilt wheel, and power mirrors all came from the factory. The only upgrade you will spot is a JVC AM/FM/cassette stereo (but the original radio also comes with the sale.) Plus, you have power windows and a power convertible top. That means any time you want, you can go from enclosed comfort to a wind-in-your-hair experience without leaving your driver's seat. And because the factory air conditioning is still blowing cold, you can comfortably enjoy top-down motoring all through the summer season.
Just like the rest of the car, there has been some great care under the hood. But more than just its fresh appearance, the original 2.4-liter fuel-injected motor has the kind of bulletproof reputation – especially because we even have good maintenance records on this one. Toyota fans know this model as the last of the rear-wheel drive Celicas, and this was its final year. They love the light steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and the GTS's fully-independent suspension. Plus, with cruise control, power steering, and four-speed automatic transmission with highway-friendly overdrive, this is a terrific all-around cruiser.
The sale comes complete with title documentation and the aforementioned maintenance records. So as you can see, this is a complete and well-preserved survivor that's loaded with all the best features. And if you act fast, it can all be yours for quite a nice price. Call now!

About Toyota
Toyota, a name that has become synonymous with reliability and sensibility in the world of automobiles. Let's take a leisurely stroll through the history of this remarkable Japanese marque.

Our story begins in the late 1930s when a modest textile machinery company, Toyota Industries, decided to dip its toes into the world of automobiles. It was a humble beginning, but little did they know that they were about to embark on a journey that would change the automotive landscape forever.

Fast forward to 1957, and we have the introduction of the Toyota Crown, a car that signaled Toyota's ambitions to compete on the global stage. It was sensible, well-built, and it set the tone for what Toyota would become known for - reliability.

But if we're talking about Toyota's foray into the world of high-performance sports cars, we can't ignore the Toyota 2000GT. Introduced in 1967, it was a thing of beauty. Sleek, low-slung, and powered by a silky-smooth inline-six engine. It was Japan's answer to the European sports car establishment, and it put Toyota on the map as a builder of more than just sensible family cars.

Then came the Toyota Celica in the 1970s, a sporty compact coupe that captured the hearts of many. It was affordable, fun to drive, and it helped establish Toyota's reputation for building cars that were both practical and enjoyable.

But if we're talking about Japanese sports cars that made a statement, the Toyota Supra deserves a special mention. First introduced in 1978, it became a legend in its own right. With its powerful inline-six engines and rear-wheel drive, it was a force to be reckoned with on both the street and the track. The Supra is a car that enthusiasts still drool over, even today.

And then, there's the Land Cruiser. It's not just an off-roader; it's an off-roader that can do anything a Land Rover used to do, only better. Introduced in the 1950s, it quickly gained a reputation for being virtually indestructible. Whether it's crossing deserts, jungles, or frozen tundras, the Land Cruiser can handle it with ease.

But perhaps Toyota's most significant achievement is its commitment to reliability and sensibility. They didn't just build cars; they built cars that people could depend on day in and day out. It's no surprise that you see Toyota's on the streets of every corner of the world, from Tokyo to Timbuktu.

So, there you have it, the history of Toyota, a company that started humbly but grew to become a global giant in the automotive industry. They've given us reliable, sensible cars, but they've also shown that they can build high-performance legends and off-roaders that conquer the toughest terrain. Toyota is a brand that proves you can have your sensible cake and eat it with a sprinkle of excitement on top.
