Die Modellreihen Celica und Supra wurden ab 1986 getrennt. Bereits im Herbst 1987 erschien die Version mit Turbomotor und 235 PS. Im August 1988 erfolgte der erstes Facelift an der Front und am Heck (dreiteiliger Heckflügel). Der Supra wurde als Coupé und als Targa verkauft und brauchte sich vor seiner Konkurrenz nicht zu verstecken. Ende der 80er/Anfang der 90er Jahre waren leistungsstarke Sportwagen den vogue und Japan steuerte attraktive, leistungsstarke, vollausgestattete und preisgünstige Konkurrenten zu diesem Boom bei.Dabei zeichnete sich der Toyota Supra Turbo gerade durch sein Design aus: eine schier endlose Motorhaube mit zwei automatischen Klappscheinwerfern, ein dezenter Heckspoiler, sehr zeitgemäße Heckleuchten und formschöne Aluminiumfelgen. Besser hätte es Graf Görtz auch nicht zeichnen können. Der bullige 3 Liter Motor mit Turbolader und 235 Pferdchen und Verbindung als 5-Gang handgeschalte Version, war für über 240 km/h Höchstgeschwindigkeit gut. Das konnte sich zu jener Zeit durchaus sehen lassen. Das Fahrwerk ist jeder Herausforderung gewachsen, die Bremsen und deren Wirkung sehr ordentlich.Der hier angebotene Toyota Supra Targa..wurde über Toyota Prüser in Möchengladbach / D im Februar 1988 erstausgeliefert. Im Jahre 2005 wurde dieser Targa nach Duisburg verkauft und im Jahre 2013 zu seinem letzten Eigentümer nach Krefeld. Viele Supras aus dieser Zeit wurden von Ihren Vorbesitzern verbastelt. Alle Vorbesitzer konnten dieser Versuchung widerstehen, so daß dieser Toyota bis heute im original Zustand verblieben ist. Er wurde im Laufe der Zeit schon einmal neulackiert ist aber -soweit erkennbar- von einem heftigen Unfall verschont geblieben.Alles wirkt sehr gepflegt, das Lack Bild ist ohne Beanstandung, die Innenausstattung ist in sehr gutem Zustand, der Toyota hat gerade bei Oldtimer Spezialisten Großmann in Lohmar eine große erweiterte technische Inspektion erhalten, inkl. Zahnriemenwechsel für über € 7.000 €. Zusätzlich ist eine umfangreiche Mappe mit allen durchgeführten Servicearbeiten vorhanden, genauso wie ein Servicebuch und original Prospekt.
