Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale '62 1962

Allgemeine Beschreibung : Rebuilt engine, ‘ready to rumble’ A lot of maintenance invoices over the last decade Most aerodynamic car during a long period’s time (almost twenty years) 1 of 1,366 The Alfa Romeo Giulietta is a eclectic series of cars designed by the Alfa Romeo engineers of and a design genius from Bertone, seasoned Italian design. The design exudes Italian top-notch design and the name’s origin is not too hard to decipher: the second part of the brand name, Romeo, ‘did not yet have a Giulia’, as the tail goes. Giulietta is the Italian diminutive form of this female name. It was reportedly an idea suggested by a Russian leader to Alfa Romeo representatives at a fair. The Giulietta was introduced at the Turin Motor Show in 1954, starting with the first version of the series, as always, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint, a four-seater coupe designed by Italian renowned Bertone design house. The engine architecture is created by Alfa Romeo itself: a 1.3-liter front engine that is operated with a manual four- or five-speed gearbox, which is a true pleasure to shift between, that has become Alfa Romeo’s classic car trademark. In 1955, a four-door sedan version was released. From then on Alfa Romeo got creative, bringing numerous variants of the Giulietta, one of which, the Giulietta Sprint Speciale, was the record holder of the ‘most aerodynamic car’ in 1959, remaining that trophy for almost two decades. The Giulietta series was produced until 1962 and got then succeeded by the Giulia series. In 2010, Alfa Romeo brought an - unofficial - tribute to the Giulietta and releases a series with the same name, which was produced until 2020. Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale, or SS, is a two-seater sports coupe that represented high tier Italian elegance from 1959 until 1962. Bertone also took the task of designing this Italian beauty, and they did excellent: no commercial car had ever been more aerodynamic. The SS was revealed on the Monza racing circuit in 1959, it was introduced to be the top-tier option in the Alfa Romeo Giulietta series. No car had ever been more aerodynamic, the Italian elegance and the sleek lines make the car flow through the air causing barely any friction. This Giulietta was also equipped with the 1.3 liter Giulietta’s engine, this time producing approximately 100 hp while fed by two Weber carburetors. The chassis is a shortened version of the regular Giulietta chassis. No detail was overlooked, and conventional design was forsaken in favor of a nearly futuristic one. Only 1366 models were ever made, the ones in good condition are extremely rare.
