LMC is very proud to offer for sale this updated 1959 Austin Healey 100
Early in the 1950’s, Donald Healey saw a market for a fast, cheap sports car to fit a market segment between the MG and the Jaguar. He set out to design an affordable sports car capable of achieving speeds of 100 MPH which later gave rise to the model name. Healey engaged designer Gerry Coker and they prepared a design based on drivetrain and suspension components from the Austin Motor Company. The concept car debuted at the Earl’s Court Motor Show in 1952 and was a major hit. At the same time, Austin was looking for a new design to penetrate the lucrative US market. Through further discussions it was agreed that Austin would produce the car as they were in a better position to produce it in volume to meet the demand. Thus the “Austin-Healey” badge was born.
This final model year Austin-Healey 100 has been upgraded with current technology fittings to provide an exhilarating driving experience in a classic style. Badged as a “100-8” to reflect the upgrade in the engine to a 5.7l / 350ci aluminum LS1 V8 engine with an estimated 400+ HP output. The engine is equipped with a performance cam and topped with a high-rise manifold fed from the ram air hood through a 750 cfm carburetor. Power is delivered through a manual 5 speed transmission. Rear axle is a limited slip differential and there are modern disc brakes at all 4 corners. Suspension is modified and fully adjustable and steering is rack and pinion. The chassis has been substantially stiffened and reinforced with a curb weight of 2,320 lbs. Interior features have been upgraded as well and finished with modern technology, while maintaining the period appearance of the original car.
Here is an excellent opportunity to experience the classic styling of a small British sports car wrapped around modern automotive technology for a breathtaking driving experience!
