Bayerische Motoren Werke, allgemein bekannt als BMW, hat eine reiche Geschichte, die bis zu ihrer Gründung im Jahr 1916 zurückreicht. Ursprünglich als Flugzeugmotorenhersteller während des Ersten Weltkriegs gegründet, sah sich BMW nach dem Krieg Beschränkungen bei der Flugzeugproduktion gegenüber.
